Why are players ok with glowing skins but not armor/weapons?

My greatsword glows when I use it. :)

I dislike both, and the glowing mounts.

Some weapon and armour glow I'm fine with, because enchantments and magical weapons. But all the weird skins and extremely glowing and weirder and weirder themed mounts? Yuck. If I wanted that I could play a game that is not set in the Elder Scrolls world.

Some players seems to live in a parallel es universe with less to no magic and more lotrish approach and not in a bizarre world literally breathing with magic, weird pocket dimensions where you can expect basically anything. Everyone decides for her/him self.
Obviously there is a leitmotif close to Tolkien one about magick leaving the world in a way with time but you can't really complain about it playing in the distant past.

ES is very magical and weird yes, but weird as skins and fire-frost senches who sparkles hasn't ever been a thing until now. The mounts and people still look quite "normal".

You might want to get that checked.

The problem i see is only about "other people around" as you can always decide if it fits your personal version of ES. And it's an mmo so you'll see other versions of you also but it's still up to you to decide if it's an actual burst of immortal heroes from Coldharbour or just a noise of people around in a multiplayer game you play. When i beat hof or cr it's just me and another 11 heroes basking in the Assembly General's blood or getting affected by Z'maja's corruption being all black and purply after the battle same as Welkynars.

Basically i treat other players like players and surely not as same individual or the ones with whom I've done it if they have identical skins etc. If they have sparkly mount it's up to them how they justify its existence and taming but it's not like every second Tamriel citizen really have a dro m'athta horse in their stable to me x)

I play another game where enchanting causes weapons to glow. It does NOT cause armor to glow.

    Why, you ask?

Because it would be stupid (IMHO).

Its one thing for a character to have an aura or a glow around the entire character. It's completely different to be lit up like a frikkin Christmas tree because every single piece of armor has its own high intensity light bulb. You want to kill immersion, then That's how you kill immersion. Armor, weapons, shield, jewelry all with their own bright lighting, then tell me how stealthy your character is .

    IMHO

    You've convinced me!

...I'm now totally in favor of extra-glowy armor. >:)

Our weapons stop glowing when we sheathe them because the servers would probably melt from stress if they didn't. I like the glowy stuff though, since this is a fantasy game. Some people prefer to have options instead of being locked to White Skin Person 1, Whie Skin Person 2, Brown Skin Person 1, and Brown Skin Person 2, but others want rigidity. I think most people are "fine" with the different skins, but full-time glowing weapons is something that has probably been asked about off and on for years. It'd be cool if we could get the option to turn them fully on and off so those who don't want their weapons to glow at all can be happy, and those who do can be happy too.

Im fine with glowing weapons, if they fit.
A staff with a crystal for example may glow i mean is magic after all so it makes sense as would flaming arrows but i dislike overly glowey armor like they have in wow.
