Obviously there is a leitmotif close to Tolkien one about magick leaving the world in a way with time but you can't really complain about it playing in the distant past.

ES is very magical and weird yes, but weird as skins and fire-frost senches who sparkles hasn't ever been a thing until now. The mounts and people still look quite "normal".
