This has happened four times now. Seems it shouldn't.

Oh, and there wasn't even anything there!

OMG it just did it AGAIN. I can't get this item, it keeps saying "encasement was broken" when digging for bonus items and using the brush. WTH?

I'm having the same issue. I've gotten "encasement was broken" six times this morning in Cold Harbor going after the gold void light. I can see once, twice, maybe three times but this is terrible.

Out of curiosity, have you dug down to the bottom of any fissures/vents, or scrupulously avoided those? (Applies to purple and gold digs and higher only, not green or blue).

I avoid the fissures because most of the time that blows up everything LOL. I understand if you use the trowel or shovel with too much on the bar it goes deeper than the rocks and hits the item. But the issue I'm having is the brush causing damage and making the dig fail.
