What is the TLDR version of the antiquities and scrying system?

Ah okay, so the whole thing is a mute point until I get Greymoor

Sadly, nothing in Greymoor yet quite justifies the pricetag for me yet. Plus I haven't even been able to play 50% of the time due to game issues.
    Hoping for more playable races

Honestly it’s an easy gold making line to me. 5 minutes of time to find a couple of treasures I can sell with a couple mini games thrown in. Nothing too complicated. No more of a hassle than searching for some of those awkwardly placed treasure maps throughout the world. The location changes but there is a built in compass and the dirt glows and has a huge green plume that you can’t miss. Upgrading the skill lines takes time at first but once you are able to do purple leads it goes pretty steady to level 7 where you can scry some gold and orange leads. It’s an interesting distraction between the farming most of us are already doing anyway.

Also leads and items are account bound so just make your crafter your antiquarian and throw on some spread gear and you’ll rip through things pretty fast. Or level it all as you go, the leads will still be there to be farmed.

Furthermore, you can only have 5 leads actively scryed at any one time and have to excavate/abandon one before you can scry another.

Never even thought of trying to stack them...I'm too impatient.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

I scry all available leads for each zone I'm in at the same time because about the time you only scry one, find it, then scry the next it will send you right back to where you just were. Scrying all of them allows you to plan a more efficient route for excavating them.

I also just discovered that you can abandon a successful scry and you don't lose the lead, so if you're in a zone with some hard-to-reach areas and your scry points you in that direction, you can abandon it and re-scry for a (hopefully) better/more convenient excavation location. Even gold-level scrying only takes me about 20 seconds at most, and re-scrying may save me 3-4 minutes of horse simulator and load screens.
