Has anyone tried any builds with the new Kvatch Gladiator Set?

I was thinking of trying to revamp my stamplar to experiment with the set - Kvatch's Gladiator, Master Bow, maybe the arena 2 hander that does extra cleave AOE damage, and 3x blood thirsty traits for the jewelry. Not sure what other set I should use with it though. I was thinking Vicious Ophidian to help increase base damage and get some sustain through stamina regeneration and cost reduction. The idea would be to have a character that just absolutely wrecks it in execute phase.

My Stamplar is an Orc.

Has anyone else tried playing around with this set?

    Did they change the kvatch set? I just made some for my 2h redguard NB to go with sword singers. Kvatch would be a good set for any bosess that are hard to kill when under 25% if there are such a thing. I haven't tried it out yet but I like to have unique builds for each toon instead of having Briarheart, spriggans or Hundlings on every one.

    If im not mistaken before the buff increased the wep damage of the light and heavy attack only and now its just an increase directly to your wep dammage

    Yes, it increases weapon damage by approximately 1500 when a monster falls into execute phase. With the right setup, you could make a character that can actually crush it during the time when battle becomes the most tense, but the cost would be middling damage during the first 3/4 of the fight.

    My hope was that someone out there saw the changes and has been thinking of theorycrafting a build around the set and had some suggestions to offer. Since its a craftable set, its easy to acquire, so once I can complete my VO weap/jewelry set I may try it out.

    I was actually a bit hyped seeing the changes at first and then disappointed to realize that this set‘s 5th passive is still useless 75% of the time. Since most people run bloodthirsty jewelry and/or have an execute it‘s triple dipping into something where most characters are already strong anyway.

    It should have been like Titanborn Strength, the amount of the weapon damage should increase at 75%, 50% and 25% of the enemies health. Not only at 25% health. It‘s not even useful on Werewolves because they got their own execute. The set is fun for leveling though.

    Hmm. What I can see might work is a PvP DK with Master's DW front bar and Leap / Executioner back bar, completing Kvatch Gladiator on the back bar only.

    I made a werewolf build using Kvatch Gladiator and it worked ok (pve).

    I also ran it on a stamdk (pvp) for a while, it was ok.

    Either way, problem is that the time you are fighting enemies under 25% health is limited so I felt other 5 piece bonuses active for the whole fight, were more advantageous.

    Yes, obviously, this would be an issue. But if you used it in situations such as trials or in vet hard mode dungeons that have mechanics that ramp up difficulty in execute phase, it may actually be useful if the execute crits are high enough.
