Solitude sucks

For crafting. This isnt really a complaint I'm just annoyed that I made proudspire my new home base without checking to see how daily crafting was gonna be there. And its hot garbage. I gotta go into other building to do my writs. I'm disappointed and my day is ruined.

lol never just assume something is going to be good for something? Im not really sure why you would make a blind purchase of something because you think its going to be better for it. Someone was saying it was gonna be best for writs, so I spent two seconds watching someone on PTS and realized that wouldnt be the case. Do some research

You are right. I was just fake complaining. I always end up going back to Rawl'kha anyway so this isnt a problem.

Eh, well, I like Vivec best, but Rawl works too. Anyway, I don't actually know how Solitude is set up, as I'm not going to be seeing it until the chapter is a DLC next year.

It not good for crafting. But it feels nice, looks just like it did in skyrim. I always go back to rawl bc the traders are right there. I was just dumb and didnt check the place out b4 making the switch bc all the other chapters have had great crafting areas.

I.... think that's my problem with this chapter. Skyrim (TES: V) is around 1k years in the future. NOTHING should look like that Skyrim in the "now" of this game, or very little.

A thousand years is.... forever.... in a medieval culture....

Yeah i get that. I honestly hate the nostalgia trip they try and force upon you. I get why they did it. Just not what i was looking for in a Skyrim focused chapter.

Yep. I love some of this game. But.... then there's the stuff I DO NOT love. And that's all I'm going to say, as I really don't want my account actioned.

I am actually and truly disappointed. The layout for crafting is really nice and compact but the loading screens going into and leaving every single building completely ruin it. Add to that the stable on the outside of the city with another major loading screen to get to it and Solitude is a big failure.

That's why Vivec (or Rawl) is perfect for me - nothing in buildings (except the bank in Rawl). I absolutely refuse to use anywhere there's a loading screen for crafting stations, bank, or getting to traders and stable. And my load screens aren't even very long! But it's a poor use of my time no matter if they're only 20 seconds.

I still like it better than Stormaven where you have to run the length of the city twice for writs. At least during the loading screen I can take a sip of my coffee/beer/water.

I'm not too picky though, all my characters use a different city as their hub, some are better than others.

Hold up. Elden root is not ok. I get where you're coming from but the wayshrine and the writ turn in are so far away. You're doing yourself and injustice there mate.

All of us have our preferred "routes" for crafting. One isn't better than another, because all of us are individuals.

Some cities are very much better than others though!

I'm glad the devs don't cater to crafting writ min/maxers when they design a new zone.

I've done all my crafting in Solitude since the patch ... and it's been a joyous nostalgia trip.

I actually quite like Solitude for writs, though my computer and SSD are fast enough that the load screen for going through the doors is much less than a second.

Skyrim nostalgia is NOT my thing. And I'm anything but a "crafting min/maxer". *sigh*

I guess if you're happy you bought into that, good for you.

My comments aren't really directed at you personally, @Sylvermynx.

They're more for the OP's benefit ... along with the [snip] players that can't handle the 5 second load screen for the door.

I have them! And some attunables for places I just do NOT want to go. But still, except for master writs, it's easier/faster to just do them in Vivec.... no loading screens....

I have all the crafting stations in one of my houses in a nice tight semi-circle right in front of the door. It's even the Rawl'kha house. But I still do my writs in Vivec. Lol

I actually find the crafting area in Rimmen (N. Elsweyr) to be great.
Everything is all in close proximity under some canopies.
Both boards close and side by side... no doors, bldgs., etc. to enter.
And a short little trot to turn-in.

    Super fast and efficient.

Yeah, I used to writ in Mournhold for years, but you still have to go into two buildings around that wayshrine and to cook, you gotta head over to the inn (and then into the basement).

That's just too much loading screen time, now-a-days, since they've added the new zones that have taken some of those pain points away.
