I'm sick of starting new chars, getting to about level 20 and just deleting them after they sit dormant for a couple weeks

Realistically you’re saving 10-12 hours of gameplay? less if you have the gear and exp potions ready. The real grind is when you reach CP levels.

Reaching level 50 is not the problem, takes me a few hours of dolmen farming, esp on double xp events. Getting skillpoints, mage guild, undaunted and psijik skill lines afterwards is the real chore.

So you want to reach level 50 ( then jump to whatever CP level you are ), and all the skill points that go with it but have no skills.
You will be CP level 'whatever' with level 5 gear or whatever.
This what you are asking for?

Getting to level 50 does not really take that long with a bit of grinding, its all the skill point hunting you do afterward and leveling the skill lines that takes the time.

That said they have added purchasable skyshards and skill lines, would not surprise me, if they added an instant level 50 token as well at this point, just hope it requires having leveled at least one character to level 50 before the option to buy it is unlocked.

    THIS

Forget level 50 tokens - but gimme a "max out all skill lines and skill progress" token and I'll gladly pay up to skip the massive, tedious grind.

Please, no. Not more ways to incentivise ZOS to add unnecessary grind to drive crown store sales.

If this is added, can we have it flag the characters that it is applied to? I don’t want to end up in the same phase/shard as them. We aren’t playing the same game.

Maybe the possibility to create a new character but copy the progress?

Care to explain what's the problem with that?

If it worked like the skyshard purchases, then I don't see any problem with it. Everyone would still need to get at least 1 character up to lvl 50 by playing (more or less) normally.

Realistically... probably in the next 12-24 months. Might be the Big Thing for the 2021/22 Chapter, along with the Crown CP Packs, after they introduce the new monetization CP system

About your "endgame is the problem" remark from the other thread:
The fact is, you have to have a fully maxed character to be able to participate in certain endgame activities on a reasonably level playing field.

Of course all "endgame" is not created equal - there is a lot of "endgame" content (ie. basegame vet dungeons, to name one example) which is quite undemanding and can be easily cleared by characters with significantly suboptimal builds.

But then there is the "end endgame", if you will: newest DLC dungeon vet HMs, prog groups for vet HM trials, and of course PvP (esp. CP PvP).
In such content, you are heavily gimping yourself if your character isn't fully maxed out in terms of skillpoints, skill lines etc.

Finally, other players being able to buy skyshards/skill lines or a hypothetical level 50 token doesn't directly affect your enjoyment of the game in any way.
The only exception here would be Battlegrounds, where it is possible to gain a "P2W" advantage through such purchases, although currently only "sub 50" BGs are affected - and historically, that has always been a twink fairyland anyway.

The only way this could become a serious problem is if completely new/fresh accounts are ever allowed to max out characters through clownstore purchases, since that would lead to clueless players being (technically) allowed into content which is completely beyond their abilities to handle.

Why do you keep deleting them? You'd hit 50 if you kept one around, and then when you wanted to play something different than your mains, went back to the lv20 character instead of making yet another new one.

Also, why delete any characters (unless you have a specific purpose that needs a new one), you can always use them for storage, or doing writs, or holiday/event dailies, or....

And that is the problem with "endgame". It isn't that you have to be max level to get there, it is that it exists and there are people who believe (and have posted on this forum) that that is where the real game starts. That is the problem.

Based on my own experience with LotRO, SWTOR and ESO this seems to lead to...
    • Devaluing all pre-endgame content on the basis that it is purely transitional.
    • Endorsement of account-wide mechanisms.
    • Endorsement of purchasable "convenience" items.

    Which brings us to this...

    This hasn't been my experience.

Things that have had a direct impact on my enjoyment of the game:
    • People bought motifs in the crown store. Result: Crown exclusive motifs, doubling down on motif grind (chapters/pages)
    • People bought furnishings in the crown store. Result: Crown exclusive furnishings.
    • People bought crown crates. Result: Crate exclusive mounts (and other items), and very few mounts available through in game actions (at least until the Indrik came along).
    • People bought crown store exclusive houses. Result: trend continues.

There is also the effect that crown store purchases have on existing (and planned) systems. There are systems that could have seen future iterations that could have brought increased enjoyment/less grind. To change these now would likely cost ZOS revenue and so will not happen (I would love to be wrong about this). I would suggest these include, but are not limited to:
    • Mount Training (riding lessons)
    • Skyshards (skyshard packs).
    • Inventory (bag space upgrades, bag space pets)
    • Trait Research (research scrolls)

I'd argue that other peoples' purchasing choices in this game absolutely have affected my enjoyment of it. Because those purchasing choices affect how ZOS approaches this game.

I'd be fine with level 50 tokens, however only if they are class specific and locked in the same way skill lines are. Ie you have a level 50 character in that class in order to purchase a level 50 token.

Which is why I never bother grinding to 50

if you do Mage's, Fighter's, Psijic's, lore books and sky shards simultaneously with the area quests you'll be 50 anyway and have most of the skill points.

Don't you have the order off on some of those? Like - there were crown-exclusive furnishings from the moment furnishings existed. There were very few in-game-earned mounts, and a bunch of direct-crown-purchase mounts, long before there were crates. There's very few crown-exclusive motifs (43, 46, 53) and they have little to do with the "buy this game-drop motif for crowns to skip the grind" trend (the "pay lots to skip the grind" idea has more in common with the skyshards/skill lines/XP scrolls). Etc.

You can get to 40 pretty easily. Just get a few there and shelf them until the next double exp event and you can get all your chars to 50 at the same time in a few days.

Even still without an event and just using a few scrolls I took my magplar from 0-50 in a few days. The last 5 levels were slow but 0-20 I did in one night easily. It took longer to 50 because I ran some quests again to try some different outcomes so I was slowing down to listen to certain dialogue. Also some quests I just love so could play them over and over and just like the stories and outcomes.

So take your main and buy the cheap house in each zone so you can level up all your alt’s with doleman or zombie runs. Yes it feels mindless but it’s super effective. Or look into skyreach runs with a guild mate. Some guild have people willing to carry you though for free. It simple and fast this way. You will still need to get your skill points though to open up other things but any of these methods above will level you quickly enough. Especially with exp scrolls and during double XP events.

To get enough Skill Points to do anything, you're going to have to do enough content to easily get to 50.

And if they start selling us Skill Points, that's probably it for me.

I got some bad news for you then. They sell sky shards of each zone in the crown store once you’ve collected them all.

Skill points are easy enough to grind though as are many sky shards, but people on their 15th charter that may have been subbing for years probably have to crowns to spend.

They should just add the lv50 skip potion at this point. They can even do that with the skill points from skyshards & skill lines like undaunted / psijic as a complete bundle. They can gate it behind the achievement too if they want. They'd make so much money.

It takes mere hours to level up a character to 50. It is by far the easiest game to level up a character fast and it is the easiest aspect of creating a new character in this game.

Zos already provided the means to buy the parts of a new character that takes time and real effort.

Wow. I have a lot of alts. I don't really care what levels they are (I have only two CP160+ - one at 402 or something, one at 325 or something), they're all pretty much lowbies. I have a couple at 40 or so, and some mid to high 30s. The rest are lowbies for sure.

But each of them makes the journey. I play each of them; as one of them prods me, we go do some stuff. I get to see parts of the game, quests etc. from that character's viewpoint, s/he gets a level or so, finds some goodies, I have fun....

I don't care how many skyshards I have to get on each character. I get them as I'm playing the game. I don't care how many books I have to find for MG; I don't care how many skellies I have to kill for FG. I get them as I'm playing the game.

I do it all while having fun....

It was probably not as clear as I would have liked. My three year old was climbing on me at the time of writing.

These were not intended to be a progression. Each item refers to itself. If people hadn't bought the crown versions of each of these things, then ZOS is unlikely to have continued to push them in the store.

That said, I would certainly make the argument that the success of the earlier micro-transaction items is what encouraged ZOS's ongoing crusade to integrate everything possible into the crown store.
