Regarding ESO Marketing Emails etc?

Hi guys, I'm guessing that "ESO Marketing Emails" means that they will send me emails with offers, new launchings and etc.

However, hereby lies the rub, when I enrolled with ESO (back in the day) it was for playing the pre-launch game on my PC. Since then of course it has become available on consoles. So I started playing in earnest on the PS4. Which is where this latest offer comes in. If I were wanting to 'Opt in' would ESO be able to connect my PC sign in with my 'different' PS4 sign in?. Or will I have to re-enrol with ESO using my PS4 log in details?. The bottom line is am I 'Good to go or not?.

This is what I know (it comes from the article). It sounds like you just need to log into your ESO account using the link below and check the one for marketing email. I assume that the instructions in the second link will connect your console account with an email address and get you what you want.

    Verify Your Email

To see if you have a verified email address, log in to your ESO account on the official website. If you can log in, congratulations! You have a verified email address.

If you are on console and have not verified your email, you can find instructions for both PlayStation®4 and Xbox One in this help article. If you are having trouble logging in to your account, you can recover your account using this form.

The pet isn't free when the cost is agreeing to subject yourself to data mining and all flavors of marketing assaults.

I mean, yes, but have you read the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy in full? They're already data mining every single customer who plays this game.

Elsonso, what you say is very true. However, there's no getting away from TineaCuris or Starlock's statement's. Afteral no-one likes data mining, least of all me. Which is why the data mining sites I am affiliated with are few and far between. In fact apart from this game none.

But further to all of this, what stops me or anyone, signing up for the emails just until I/they receive the Spiderling, then cancelling?.

I see that Zo$ has decided to forgo subtlety. Outright dangling a morsel to entice players to advertising. No doubt for "coupon day"

Nothing... as I noted in the official thread...

    Elsonso, my bad.

At the end of the day though, it doesn't really matter either way. It isn't as though I really desperately wanted the spiderling or any other pet for that matter. Just thought I'd add it to my ever growing, unused pet collection. But, it has transpired that even if I did want it, owing to some sort of glitch I can't get it anyway.

I signed up with ESO the year before they officially launched on PS4, when I was invited to play the Beta. But that was with a now old defunked email address. So now, using the suggested routes to change to my present email address has proved fruitless. When I try to change it in my ESO Account it says: Press the (triangle) button and update your email to your PS4 login address. It then proceeds to re-establish the same old email address. If I try to override this and type it in myself it won't let me save it. But when I check my PS4 Account details it has my new password. So where is ESO getting the old one from?.

Sheogorath is the Director of Marketing and Customer Happiness. This accounts for all strangeness like this in the account system. He is probably also the one behind this innocent sounding exchange of email and pet. I fear we shall rue the day that we made this deal with him.

In any case, you probably need to open a ticket with Sheogorath's Customer Support department. I warn you... due to cheese, it will be at least two weeks before they tell you to contact Sony.

I don't know if someone like Haskill, err... @ZOS_Chiroptera ... might have any different suggestions.

Thanks for the extra info, but I'm not sure if I'm that bothered enough to go the extra mile. Well, not unless they are going to 'give' me a bigger incentive than another pet.

Why is it that when you complain or put in a bug report they give you a number?. I've done several over time, but I've never been contacted?.

Every ticket gets a number. This is all part of Sheogorath's master plan. If you have a number, and think you are going to get contacted, you are happy. Why would they mess up a good thing by actually contacting you?

I can't say I blame you for not wanting to go the extra mile so that marketing can send you promotional emails. Again, this is Uncle Sheo's hand. He wants to see what measures people will go to in order to get a pet. Part of me is surprised that they did not invalidate all the email addresses so that they would have to be validated again, then replace the email validator with one that does not work. But, maybe that is "phase 2" of the experiment.

Data mining for what? You already play the game, they know what you still in the game already.

At West you might get more advertisement from them and Bethesda.

I suppose if they are so inclined they could make a virtual profile of you now that they have verified you're email address.
