Soul crushing UI bug...

So I was just doing crafting dailies, like every other day, plotting to take over the world, yadda. I saw someone was selling crowns so I thought what the heck, and opened the store to see if there was anything I might like. To my utter astonishment and squeaky glee I see that character slots were on sale. Not only that, but it was not greyed out for me, and showed 5/10 still available to buy!

What was this? How had ZOS added 5 extra purchasable character slots without me hearing about it?!? Never mind that now I thought, time to spend every penny of crafting gold I made this month on those 5 shiny new slots! I immediately ported to my friendly neighborhood crown salesman and prepared for a truly satisfying transaction...

All those months, nay, YEARS gone by with dreams drifting past like rain on a window of a glass house that holds me a prisoner, creativity denied a muse, trapped in a labyrinth of ideas without the thread of available character slots to follow through to some salvation. Dreams of characters that might have been, of stories they might have lived and adventures they might have had, all cut short before their time by the cruel, cruel hand of not having any more character slots. Finally I could begin again, I thought! New lands and new adventures await! Maybe I'll try out the new vampire on a fully RP character and really explore that side of the lore. Or perhaps a PVP stam sOrc...

My mind still racing with possibilities for inspiration I zoned in at the wayshrine and quickly opened up the crown store again to check the price. It was at that moment that my heart dropped out of my chest and all my happy dreams of good times ahead collapsed into a heap of nothing...

The UI had updated during the load screen, and the reload now revealed that I had 0/10 character slot upgrades remaining, and once again, the path to a future of joy and purpose had been greyed out by the cruelest of masters. CURSE YOU GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE GODS!

P.S. @ZOS_GinaBruno

Can we PLEASE have more character slots for real?

You can already get more character slots, @WhyMustItBe ... it's called purchasing another account.

And buy all those cosmetics, bag upgrades, horse training, plus the cost of all the chapters, just to get more character slots?

I think I speak for most of ZOS's customers when I say that a snowball has a better chance in the proverbial hot place than such a thing happening on any kind of scale.

WoW has 50 characters per account. I feel it is only a matter of time ZOS scales up again. I am sure there are logistical reasons why it has taken so long.

But I feel it is long overdue. Replay value is the life's blood of the MMO business.

I already have two accounts, and thinking about a third one.

    [snip]

It isn't a viable strategy to expect people to buy the entire game and all its expansions all over again just to get a few more character slots when your closest competition offers 3x the number you do with the base game.

Can a handful of rich people afford it? Of course they can. They could probably afford to buy an account for every character they start. Some probably would just because they can, which is a whole other psychological discussion.

But I don't think ZOS is holding off adding more slots because they want to see if the majority of people who can't afford much more a month than a sub and maybe some crowns will shell out over $100 bucks.

They are professional enough to know that will never happen. I think it has more to do with some server-side logistical thing.

Besides I don't like the idea of having multiple accounts. I like continuity of all my characters in one place without having to back out and relog to see the rest.

I paid $10 US for each game (including MW). I sub ESO+ so don't have to buy DLCs. I bought Summerset and Elsweyr, yes, but I'm not buying Greymoor - I won't mess with it until it's a DLC therefore free with ESO+ (because it's not of much interest to me in the first place - no use for vampires, not really interested in going back to Skyrim, and I'm fine with waiting to see if I even care about antiquities.... ZOS totally missed me with this chapter).

WoW didn't have a 50 character limit when I played (long time back now); seems like it was 15 per account per server. I had 7 accounts when I quit playing, total of 70 characters. In RIFT, I had 5 accounts.

I actually LOVE having accounts no one knows about....
