Why do they lock gear behind any content?
Why do I have to do Maelstrom if I want Mealstrom weapons? Don't you know how maddening that stupid MC is?
...you'll live. With or without the gear. It's your choice.
Though if you bring some friends and chat on Discord while you are fishing, time goes by faster.

This happens to be the single most dangerous piece of equipment in the game. I would run maelstrom for a month for it.
But fishing is a mini-game that does absolutely nothing for me.
As a Cyro player the locking of gear behind PVE content has ALWAYS been an issue, not one enough to complain about. Until now.
This level of PVE enforcement is not acceptable in someones view... MY VIEW.
And I have a very valid argument.

Players are getting spread across the map, congregating in these forgotten corners, working together to complete content they probably forgot about years ago. I'm not a big fan of fishing either, but I enjoy bumping into other players who are on the same hunt as me. There's a bit of solidarity there that I like.

If you dislike pve so much then why choose a game who's main focus is pve content?
I would actually prefer to uninstall eso and go play somewhere that isn't creating an overwhelming sense of unhappiness to my life.

It is to get people into different areas of the game.
I don't like that there are leads in Imperial City, but it gets people into there.

Slight difference, the main mythic lead in IC is for an item that is largely geared towards PVP.
The other issue with the fishing, at least in Artaeum, is that it is a forced Cluster you know what. Too many players, not enough holes.
That zone is the size of my backyard. There are basically two small shorelines that have been packed since the patch dropped. There are advantages to packing a place like IC. I dont think that applies to a small PVE zone like this. I am sure it will calm down, but picking a zone with a bit more area would have been a better choice IMO. Especially, considering a lot of people already grudgingly farmed the fishing in that zone for some of the recipes a while back.

And that's your personal opinion.
Meanwhile, I'm a Master Angler (which involves fishing in Cyrodiil), and I didn't complain that fishing was locked behind PvP. I just went there and fished. Same with IC.
Them locking items behind content you find disagreeable and them locking items behind content I find disagreeable are the same thing. We just have our personal preferences on what content we like and what we don't.
And we'll both have to decide if the reward is worth the displeasure or not and live with that decision.

I am currently fishing Artaeum and i count about 12 fishing holes and 60 players fishing them.

This is a game I pay money for to enjoy. When my enjoyment ceases, so does the money. This is a fact of life.

If a video game makes you feel overwhelming unhappiness maybe its time to step back and valuate your life a little.
I don't know how leads work...but i've been getting them ez....
I killed a overworld boss and got a lead...
I opened up a thieves treasure chest and got a lead..
I killed mob in dungeon got a lead...
I did something and got a lead...
I am not really in the lead game so I don't know how it works...but I barely did anything in the game because I log in and manage my inventory...
So for me it looked like everything I touched gives me a lead.

You don't have to pvp to fish in Cyro. If you are not between point A and B the likelihood of you encountering pvp is slim to none at all.
NOT a valid argument.
i dont mind the fishing, i mind the drop rate. It takes considerably longer to get than any other lead, and is super boring.
So i'm over 8 hours of fishing no lead, and there is so many people fishing artaeum i just circled the holes and found NONE. No fishing holes.
I'm going to go ahead and take a step farther and say the decision on these leads was complete incompetence.
