RNG System

I have said this before it! it needs to be reworked completely. It doesn't make sense for anyone farming anything in this game for almost 6 months or more for it to not drop. Especially if it's not even a "rare" item either. I have played countless MMO's and by far zos has the poorest RNG system to date.

What are you looking for? Nothing should take that long to get, unless you are looking in the wrong place. ZOS has actually made a lot of things less RNG dependent over the years. Ask anyone what VMA was like when it was released and they will tell you how bad RNG was back then.

Some people will roll bad luck, that's how it goes. Ask the people who have been farming for Invincible every single week since 2008/9 in World of Warcraft if they think ESO has bad RNG. Yes, sometimes it sucks, but whether we want to admit it or not we are babied when it comes down to gear.
I play this game a little bit I guess

literally TWO ice furnace shields. It isn't taking me almost 6 months for those two items. But when I was searching for Syvarra's scales in light when I used to play console it took me almost about 6 months. Then I moved to PC and found everything within 30 minutes. But the two ice furnace shields I have been trying to get. Literally aren't dropping. The first time I saw a shield drop was running it on normal and of course it was with people under CP so I could not do nothing with the shield. I'm just curious as to why this grind for these two pieces are this bad?

To be honest, I don't think Ice furnace shield has ever dropped for me either. Don't remember seeing it.

There is your problem, you are running with random people. If you run with three friends or from a guild you have a way higher chance as the people will be more willing to trade with you. There are a lot of players that could not care less about what you need, therefore don't look at what is dropping and not picking up the set items. Run it with a group of people you know and it won't be much of a grind at all.

The first suggestion is run with friends/guildmates to help you farm it. That way you can make sure it will drop in CP160 and have 4 times the chance of getting it. It really helps.

The second suggestion is to use another set for the shields and have the last piece of Ice Furnace as armor or jewelry. It is probably the easiest solution.

Both together should speed up your gearing.

The setup I want to run would result into me having to farm maelstrom arena for weapons and jewelry and we ALL know how that goes lol

I'm tempted to check on my console accounts to see if i ever got the drops for those as well

Maelstrom is pretty easy to farm. Normal takes like 20 minutes max and you get jewelry and weapons usually, plus you get maelstrom weapons on normal now. It took maybe 10 runs to get a full set of succession and I ran it on vet. It really takes no time at all, like I said earlier, put yourself back to when maelstrom first dropped and then you have something that you can complain about.

Well what's reasonable? After 60+ runs (25 on vet) I also still haven't gotten a Spellweave inferno staff.
Or after opening 150+ chests and killing 30 WB in Deshaan .. no Mothers Sorrow inferno staff.

I wished you get more vouchers or tickets or sigils or whatever that you can trade in for stuff instead of all the RND drops and other random stuff clogging up your inventory (surveys, treasure maps, festival stuff, museum pieces, recipes, praxises, crown consumables et cetera).

That is a choice and that is fine. Do not forget about running with a group of friends/guildmates as it prevents one of the problems you mentioned and increases the chance someone will trade it to you.

Just suggestions. Doubt Zos will change drops much as they have greatly improved things from how it used to be since we can change the traits now.

    Good luck.

Maelstrom Arena with friends? That would be a great idea indeed. Well, maybe not, I'd like to keep them.

Yes. Especially most other MMOs do gear resets every couple of years, with every expansion. You have to get all new gear every time.

Imagine if ESO, with Patch X, made 50/300 the new gear line instead of 50/160. That would be 'normal' for every other MMO, but ESO players would lose their minds. You would have to refarm all your gear. Don't forget, that would be all new sets, too.

No, ESO players have it easy. Once you farm it, it's yours forever, unless they do this kind of change, or they nerf a set.

@joerginger If you had seen the original OP they were farming for two shields of the Ice Furnace set which drops in Direfrost. They commented the first time they say the shield drop it was a player below CP160 so the shield was not useful to them.

It seems that information has been edited out of the OP so some comments here probably lack some context.

And yes, vMA would be to easy to do with a group.

Being able to farm someting once a week per character, with a .01% drop rate isn't the same as farming something months in this game when it can be done daily. So sick of the hyper RNG mode of themepark games.

I know someone that has been running vet Sunspire trying to get a perfected false god chest since VSS dropped.
They still havent gotten one in ANY trait.

I have run VSS more than any other trial in the game and I have yet to have a dagger or an axe drop for me.
Luckily I finally got one once everyone else in my group had thiers and someone got an extra one

BSW inferno anyone? I have heard people run COA 100+ times and not get one to the point where people start suggesting to adjust their sets so the weapon is the other set because they probably wont ever get one.

Caluurion destruction staff of any description :disappointed: fast approaching 60 runs, swimming in restoration staves, shields, bows, and 1hs, not a single lightning, ice, or inferno.
