Antiquarian's Eye Points Out of Zone

While I was using the eye for a gold lead in Hews Bane, it pointed to an area that was out of the search zone, no matter where I activated it within the zone. I did search thoroughly between each activation spot to and even past the edge of the zone.

Is your zone rectangular, or is it an odd shape outlined in a blueish/greenish color?

I've had both versions, and now that I have the latter the dig sites are generally in the indicated zone.

The screen capture does not show the eye's pointer but the character is facing in the direction it was pointing.

I had the exact same issue and just sent in a bug report. The Eye was right, btw. The dig site is in fact in the direction your eye is pointing, just slightly north of the centre of the northern edge of the marked area.

Was this a purple antiquity? A different purple one had the issue that the Eye always complained that it could only be activated inside the zone - where I was all the time.

I again searched the entire area from the northern border of the zone all the way to the bridge and found no dig site. If I abandon the search for this gold item, will it be available to try again?

Same thing is happening to me. The eye points me outside the zone where I still can't find the dig site.
