So this is a little late to the party but seeing as you asked so nicely;https://youtu.be/37Sl1W18xs4
I was just roaming around on way to excavation site when I saw this Elk and remembered this thread. Enjoy!
Elk (antlered animals in general) don't so much 'lick trees' as they rub their antlers.
"Elk will rub their antlers against trees, shrubs and the ground to impress cows or show dominance. Prior to the rut, this behavior is exhibited as bulls shed the drying velvet from their antlers."
I see Zos has some priorities.

Actually, the calls are done VERY well - they're exactly like "real life elk" (if with a bit less volume - let me tell you, an elk bull a few yards away from you can DEAFEN you....)
Elk don't "lick trees". They rub against rough bark for various reasons: to get rid of the antler velvet (probably itches, but since elk don't speak English who knows for sure?); to mark territory; to produce sound that attracts females (along with the calls) - because elk have ONE imperative: mating, to produce more elk.
People need to get out into the wild more....
