What class for PvE all content

So I quit the game not long after Warden came out.

My crafting skills are all currently maxed in every category.

I am looking at starting a new character and just doing all the main pve quests and do world bosses along the way and a few side missions. I will be getting all skyshards and doing the fighter/mage guild quest lines along with any other newer content I haven't done. I won't be doing an PvP except maybe to get shards or whatever from Cyrodil.

What class and subspec should I consider going that can handle everything? I know all the classes can handle the quest lines, but what class would be best for killing the world bosses along the way and solo delves and whatever I come across?

I am not a pro player, but I am good enough to learn and do well.

Any input would be great =)

Also, maybe give me an idea of what sets I could craft myself to twink myself out as much as possible =)

I play on PC if it matters.

If you're just doing overland PvE any class and subspec will work, @Kwik1 ... choose one that appeals to you the most and works with your playstyle.

Your choice of magicka templar or magicka pet sorcerer.

Along with everything else you mentioned, it is very easy to heal group-dungeon PUGs on those classes.

The downsides of sorcerer are that pets can get annoying and that pets eat skillbar slots, giving you less else to do. But their toolkit for not dying is awesome.

That said -- I'm not a good enough player to beat VMA. But I've just run Maelstrom Arena in normal mode on every magicka spec plus bow-bow warden, and they all work fine.

As for gear, my magicka answers are:
    • Mother's Sorrow is a great dropped set. Spinner's is a fine alternative.
    • Necropotence is a great dropped set for sorcs and decent for wardens, magblades and necros.
    • Julianos is a great crafted set (except perhaps for sorcs, where it's still good). Seducer is an OK alternative.
    • Slimecraw, Grothdarr and Ilambris are the easiest good monster sets to arm. Maw of the Infernal is next on the list.

The Argonian Muckminder is a great Mother's Sorrow staff that is easy to farm (just don't do the quest until you're CP 160) or to buy in guild stores. If you use that you can go with two dropped sets if you like, rather than one dropped and one crafted.

I agree that warden has a good mix of DPS, heal and tankiness. So if you like nature and ice spells: go for it!

In the end it does not matter a lot for overland content. Choose the one that appeals to you.
And so the Elder Scrolls foretold. You will be shy, and I will be bold.

Magicka Templar as it offers good survival in melee range with jabs. It is easy to play solo.

Magicka NB for ease of skipping trash once you get cloak. It also offers good heals and can work melee or range.

Sorc w/pets is the easiest build to play solo as the pets do much of the heavy lifting. It is also the easiest class to clear vMA on if you end up wanting such a challenge.

Easy gearing (once you have leveled)
Julliano - Crafted - requires Wrothgar access to craft but can get a guildmate to craft it for you.
Mother's Sorrow - open world drop and can be purchased from other players/guild traders
Necropotence - Pet sorc only - Open world drop and can be purchased from other players/guild traders
2 pieces of willpower jewelry w/arcane trait - cheap to purchase at trader guilds. Until you get monster sets.

Ok also I am at CP500ish or more, haven't logged on in awhile, and I will have access to all crafting stations and my crafting is maxed in every category.

I am leaning to Magplar or Sorc w/pets but might consider Warden.

When I played Warden briefly before they were ok, decent DPS and good healers.

Mainly I am concerned about being able to handle WB's solo when necessary.

Of Magplar, sorc w/ pets and Warden, which has easiest time with big boys like WB's?

Also, I have read necro's are super buggy, but are they worth it?

I decided to solo some world bosses last night (for Antiquities) and I decided to take a pet sorcerer. Templar can be better if there are a lot of adds, but with few adds or none I prefer sorcerer.

Warden is a worthy option too, but I know the other classes better and like the security of a simple, large burst heal.

I would recommend either a magic sorc or a magic NB. Sorcs are a little easier to play, NBs have a higher ceiling in group content. Magic templar is also a very strong option. What you are looking for generally with solo play is the ability to heal while you do damage. Money on the line, if I had to solo a random worldboss, I would get on my magic sorc. If you told me I had to solo something as fast as possible, I would probably get on my magic nightblade.

One thing to consider, sorcs got a bit of the shaft this patch. Maybe not really relevant to solo play, but for group PVE, sorcs really cant make use of the new vampire spammable (which is very strong) because it doesnt proc their class damage skill, Crystal Frags. They also cant make use of Thrassian Stranglers (Mythic Item, very strong damage) as well as some. Their class HOT (crit surge) does not scale with max spell damage like a lot of other heals out there. Thrassian increases both damage done and damage taken, so a class like NB whose main heal (swallow soul) scales with spell damage does much better.

I've leveled an awful lot of characters from every class and role. Over time, it seems that just about any class can solo the easier, normal group dungeons and similar content, even with no CP. You mentioned that your crafting is maxed. Consider 5 piece Sloads + 5 piece Shacklebreaker + 2 piece Fortified brass. Even with blue gear and white jewelry you will tear things up. As mentioned above, Templars and Sorcs (stam or mag) are very easy to use because you can do alright even if you stay on one bar. I'd add that Werewolf is again worth looking at, too. It doesn't stand out for end-game, but it does do well for your average player.

Anything range is better for WBs as you have better visibility of what is happening and can easily avoid PBAoE damage. That would be a pet sorc build or warden. Another advantage of pets, which both classes have, is they can get agro sometimes which takes more pressure off of you. However, the sorc can shield their pets with a class shield where the Warden bear will auto spawn if it dies, irrc.

Magplar can go ranged or melee.

I meant to add Alcast's site before. It is not a bible but a great reference for builds and other game information.

I’ve got a DW/Bow stamwarden and a double destro magplar. Both are built for solo content and both have a different feel when playing. The magplar is super simple to play where the warden has a bigger toolkit and can switch more easily between skills if you need more mitigation or extra healing.

I also find the magplar is much more visually appealing especially with all of its flashy AOE’s. It’s fun because you can stand in there and pound away with sweeps while standing in your rune, self healing, casting AOE and Dots and there is nothing enemies can do unless you get caught in a snare.

The stamwarden is a lot more movement based. Because I am DW it makes the battles feel faster and more intense. I really like the animal skills the warden has to offer and the passives that go along with it. The timing is harder though because your best damage skill is sub assault and it’s got a delayed cast time and you have to be properly facing your target or it will miss. With a backbar full of buffs and dots you can get quite a lot of burst damage going provided you get the timing down. It’s more challenging than the magplar but I find the DPS ceiling higher.

Warden is my go to for single target DPS where Templar is for wrecking through trash with ease. The both have their uses though. I’ll try DK and Necro soon.

I think Mag templar is the easiest to just pick up and play.

Mag Sorc is a little better solo and a little worse in groups.

Magplar or magsorc (with pets) are the easiest setups for soloing most content. Both have access to very strong heals and good to excellent AoE damage.

Magplar is definitely easiest when there aren't too many hard CCs to deal with (which is to say, if there's no danger of running out of stamina), but things can get hairy if you get chain CCed on cooldown since your healing relies on doing damage (sweeps).
In those cases, you might need to invest into stam regen and/or use potions to restore stamina.

Magsorc I find to be the easiest setup for the harder solo content (if that makes sense) because Crit Surge can proc off of DoTs, so it continues to heal you even when you are CCed.
Also you have Dark Deal to restore stamina on demand, and magsorc synergizes well with heavy attack builds (lightning staff), so you can spec for more damage and tankiness without worrying about sustain.
