I own a very old version of the game since 2015, called the Digital Imperial Edition, i'm wondering what i should go abouts if I want a full experience of starting play the game again. I mean eventually upgrading to the latest expansion (Greymoor is it?)

Is the way to go to buy the FULL Greymoor game, or is the way to go to buy the Greymoor Upgrade Edition?

Also by buying Greymoor, do I get all the other expansions that came in between the standard edition and greymoor?

That includes Morrowind, Summerset, Elsweyr. Or do I have to buy them seperately?

(Ie. I buy Greymoor I get FULL game + Greymoor but not the other expansions)

Also by buying Greymoor Collector edition, do I get Standard + all the other expansions collector stuff with it ? (if it includes the other expansions) or just greymoor?

So for example if I wanted the collector stuff for each and every expansion I had to buy each and every expansion seperately in a collector edition feature or ?

What would be the best ways on going about here? Need help.. (like the cheapest and right alternative)

also, forgot to mention, by buying/upgrading to greymoor (or any other expansion) in collector edition, is a 30 day membership included ? (normally is when you buy the WoW expansions anyway)

If you buy any form of the Greymoor Upgrade, you will only get Greymoor (not Morrowind, Summerset, or Elsweyr).

If you buy the full version of Greymoor, you do get Morrowind (now included in all new base game purchases), Summerset, and Elsweyr.

If you buy the full Greymoor CE, you get the CE items for all previous chapters as well.

You do not get a 30-day membership except with the physical CE of Greymoor (which, unlike past years, is just an upgrade and so does not include any previous material).

ETA: visual chart, which may be easier to understand

Hi @Azuwi, for information on choosing which edition of Greymoor to buy, please see this article.

If you buy the Standard Edition of Greymoor you will receive access to the base game, Morrowind, Summerset, and Elsweyr and will not have to purchase them separately. If you purchase the Collector's Edition of Greymoor, you will receive Collector's Editions of all chapters.

Only the Physical Collector's Edition of Greymoor came with 30 days of ESO+.

Thank you for confirming that the full CE of Greymoor includes the CE items for previous versions. I couldn’t find that information in the article, although it’s listed in the chart.

Thank you for answering some of my questions (even a very important one) about the CE Greymoor and previous expansions.

But I still wonder, since I own the Elder Scrolls Online Digital Imperial Edition, should I buy Greymoor FULL game or the "Upgrade to Greymoor" thing? Again it says I own the ESO: Digital Imperial Edition on my account.

Buying the Standard or Collector's edition of Greymoor will give you access to all the chapters, whereas buying the Greymoor Upgrade will only give you access to Greymoor. It will not conflict with your current version of the game and will simply apply all chapters you do not already have.

If you purchase the Upgrade, you will have to purchase all other chapters separately.

The upgrade. The full game is only if you've never played ESO before and it includes the basegame too.

Edit: oops, I didn't know about the extra chapters.

That depends entirely on what content you want and whether you prefer to spend time or money to get it.

The fact that you own the base game entitles you to purchase the Upgrade version, but doing so would mean you’d have to purchase the previous chapters separately (as well as their CEs, although Elsweyr’s isn’t available yet last I knew).

If you want the previous chapters, the most efficient way of acquiring them is to buy the full version of Greymoor (with or without CE, depending on whether you want those items). With enough time invested, you could acquire the gold in game to buy the previous chapter zones, classes, and CE items (except Elsweyr CE), but that would take time, and gold-crown transactions are not officially guaranteed.

At this point it is up to you which way you feel is best given what content you want and your available time and money.

zos_Chiroptera and Ghanima_Atreides gives different answers.

I'm gonna go with zos_Chiroptera becaue he's the admin then.

I don't wanna buy each and every expansion (even so CE) seperately, it gonna cost too much, and I wanted the cheapest option here.

So I own already ESO: Digital Imperial Edition, is that considered to be the "base game?"

And question; If I buy Greymoor (Or Greymoor CE) FULL edition (with all expansions bundled with it) am I eligible to activate that game purchase/CD key to my current account (which owns ESO Digital Imperial Edition) or do I have to make a new account that don't have any purchased ESO on it? Yes yes I know, Imperial Edition I bought I think it was back in 2015, or not sure even if it was free, or what kind of edition it is.

I stand corrected, I didn't know it came with the other chapters, I thought it only included the base game. Sorry for the confusion!

I want the full experience of ESO ofcourse, I have lots of free time now during corona pandemic and am willing to sit my self down and just spend my time in the elder scrolls world. So the full experience. There isn't much price difference between the standard edition, greymoor edition, and upgrade edition anyway. But buying each and every expansion seperarely is a no go choice for me, it costs too much money then, and I am not even able to find any shops that sell those old expansions anymore. Its either standard game, upgrade game, greymoor or nothing kinda. And I dont wanna miss out on the expansions that happened between standard game and greymoor. (in the years I missed)

So the biggest issue right now, since I have kinda already jumped to conclusion I NEED to buy the greymoor full game, (I thought upgrade also included all previous expansions) -- that's hence why this thread was made to ask that. --

Is if I'm entitled to activate the Greymoor FULL edition to my current account? again that says own Digital Imperial Edition.
I don't care too much about my character that I played 5 years ago, I forgot where I was, how much I progressed, what level I was, and how far I got and own. I intend to start fresh anyway on a new character to learn the game from basics again, forgot mostly everything in 5 years.

Yes, ESO Digital Imperial Edition includes the base game. Purchasing Greymoor with all chapters included will not require you to create a new account, it will simply update your current game with the new chapters.

Thank you, does it matter if it's Steam or not? And if for some reason become a diehard fan later and tend to wanna own the physical copy of ESO (Greymoor or any other future expansion) it still possible to buy that?

    @Azuwi

If you wish to play via Steam, you will need to purchase a Steam version of the game. If you already have a Steam version, and your account is linked to your ESO account, purchasing through the ESO website will upgrade your Steam version, too.

As far as physical copies of Greymoor, all Physical Collector's Editions are sold out on all platforms.

How much GB does the game take on your harddrive with the Greymoor and all previous expansions game installed?

Okay, gonna uninstall Diablo 3 and hopefully It should be enough. After install and download fully complete, it takes up 85 GB correct?

You can also buy Greymoor only upgrade and subscribe to ESO+ which gives access to all previous expansions and each and every DLC. If you're an active and especially new player, you would definitely want to subscribe anyway - it's a huuuge quality of life improvement, again, especially for a new player learning all crafts and researching traits.

You get some crowns with your subscription, which you can save up and buy the chapters and/or DLCs you wish with those crowns. People also trade gold for crowns, so when you get around to making gold in game, you can convert buy crowns from players and buy the chapters or DLCs you wish to own.

The game is so huge - you wouldn't need to own all newer chapters right away anyway - with ESO+ you'd have full access to everything anyway (while your subscription lasts), and by the time you decide that you want to own a particular chapter or DLC or DLC pack so that you can have access to it even if you unsub, you'd be able to buy it with crowns.
