With the introduction of the Antiquities system we finally have something I have been wanting to see for a long time: A way to obtain more unique cosmetic items and rewards without needing to do dungeons, trials, or simply buy them off the crown store. With its introduction alone we got a new emote, a new mount, new motif books, and a multitude of new furnishings for housing. This isn't the only reason I'm very happy with the system, but it is the main subject of this post. More specifically, the new furnishings are the subject.
I am the kind of person who sees no need to get ESO+, at least for the most part. I am more than capable of inventory management on my own without needing a craft bag, and I just prefer to buy new DLCs when they come out, and I don't see a point to costume dyeing since the outfit system is, in my opinion, just better overall. However, the one thing that makes me consider ESO+ still is the fact that the space you get for placing furnishings in your houses is doubled all around. Simply put, I want more furnishing space available without the need for ESO+, especially now that Antiquities has been introduced, since it's obvious they intend to expand upon it as future DLCs and Chapters come out.
I myself own one of the larger houses you can get in-game, the Ebonheart Chateau. I bought it back in December using crowns and furnished it using what was given to me by the purchase as well as what I had available from previous houses I've bought in the past, and ultimately I turned it into something I'm genuinely proud of. However, despite how large the Chateau is, there is only a maximum of 350 traditional furnishing slots, which is only like 50 more than the house I was using before, and after everything I'd done to the place before Antiquities was introduced, I had about 8 free slots left. After Antiquities I changed some things in the courtyard and freed up a decent amount of space, but now after getting many of the available furnishing items from the system, I am now around 6 - 5 furnishing slots left for the traditional. I have barely anything left that I feel I can remove or change without upsetting the overall design, and I'm disappointed that there is no way for me to expand the amount of traditional furnishings that I have available. I remembered hearing months ago that more furnishing slots were being looked at by ZoS, but I haven't heard anything about it since then. So I have a suggestion for how it can be done.
This might be a bit controversial depending on how people feel about gold sinks, but I think a simple answer would be to allow players to purchase more furnishing slots for their houses, up to around 50 or even 100 slots less than what ESO+ gives you by default. So for example, Ebonheart Chateau has 350 furnishing slots, and that is doubled to 700 by ESO+. Allow players to purchase extra slots using gold up to somewhere around 600. That way there's still incentive to get ESO+ for another 100 slots (I'd even go as far as to say 150 more slots through ESO+) while still allowing players to purchase more slots as they need them, without having to pay for the subscription. In this idea, everyone wins. At least, I believe they do.
The simple fact of the matter overall though is that more traditional furnishing space needs to be added soon. At this point I would even take another 50 slots and let that be it. ESO+ already has plenty of useful and convenient things to it. You don't really need to lock the ability to gain more furnishing slots behind it as well. That is my opinion at least.
