Why is this Quest system so bad?

i'm a new player, and i understand some or most of the system of this game. But quest system.... i realy can't understand it!
- I lost track of missions.
- I don't know where to go.
- I don't understand why i need to travel to somewhere, but i don't have how to travel to there.
- I realy don't understand this quest system.... i don't!
- Sometimes i complete one quest, later i found the same NPC and he\she have no ideia who i'm! Why?
- Main Story.... I understand from wiki, i get missions ea 5 levels... But why in the hell, i have to go Wiki, Youtube, search around internet to know where to go or why i cant make the quest now...
- Dark brotherhood (DLC)... Did i complete all quests!? i have make 3 or 5 missions... now they dont talk to me. No one say anything... wtf! What do i need to do to keep foward!?

This quest system have no sence at all. This is so bad!!!!! Why!?!??!

Or What did i miss? Or did i do wrong!?

I wanna start all over again. But this time, i will level up my char until Lv.50 CP 160 and only then i will make quests. This is what i need to do??

I'm so sorry about all of this, but i real don't understand this quest system....

The game does have two habits that dont help.

    1. The quest focus can change to another quest when you complete a stage. So, check to see what quest is focused from time to time.

    2. The game throws a ton of quests at you. White arrows are the focus, black arrows are the other active quests.

    3. You can cut down the clutter by not having all the quests appear on your compass.

    4. You can always abandon quests you dont want to deal with, you can get them later
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

One of the big issues with a fully open MMO is that fact that the story is now fully open, and there really are no pointers on which quests you should do or avoid to get the story to flow.

I highly recommend any players looking for lore to start with this post: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/413807/what-order-should-i-do-esos-story-arcs-a-guide/p1

If you want to do the best lore you can, just start by ignoring all quests and go to one of the starter cities (Vulkhel Guard, Daggerfall, Davon's Watch) and pick up the main quest from the Hooded Figure. She'll start you on the main quest, and then you can just bang those out in order. You can also do the Mages/Fighters guild questlines starting in one of those cities (you level up by killing Daedra or reading books), and you can even do the zone quests starting from your desired alliance (Pact: Bleakrock Isle, Covenant: Stros M'Kai, Dominion: Khenarthi's Roost). Those are the quest markers with stripes.

i start the main quest, and right now, im in Coldharbour in quest: Final Assault.... i don't even understand if this is the main quest or not because i have to make all quests in here just to find what quest is the main quest.... because... after i come to here, all points from mainquest disapear. No logs, no nothing!!!

This quest system is realy realy REALY bad!

To address some of your specific concerns:

Traveling: if the quest is in the same zone, you can usually walk there. If its in a different zone, it'll be a little harder. You can travel to wayshrines you have unlocked, or to any guildmates in that zone to unlock wayshrines. If you prefer more immersive methods of travel, go to the largest city and look for NPCs by carts or boats: https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Transport

Same NPCs: while ZOS no longer guides you through the zones in order, quests still have an order. So if you do the zones out of order, those NPCs won't remember you. ZOS updated some of the dialogue to account for this, but not most of it. tomofhyrule linked my thread on story order. This thread is a very comprehensive guide to quest order: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/525351/a-clear-step-by-step-guide-to-playing-eso-in-chronological-order
On the other hand, if it doesn't bug you that sometimes NPCs won't remember you, play in whatever order you want!

Main Story: it no longer requires leveling up to get the next stage. If you are stuck, I'd check https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Main_Quest to figure out which step you are on. Common "stuck points" are "The Tharn Speaks" (solution: drop or finish the Elsweyr Prologue quests "The Demon Weapon" and "the Halls of Colossus") and "Council of the Five Companions" (solution: complete the Coldharbor zone)

Dark Brotherhood: this guild has a reputation requirement to keep getting story quests. You can check your reputation on the DB skill line tab. The way to get more reputation is to do the daily Black Sacrament or black book killing quests. I tend to do the "kill 3 people" black book quests for faster reputation gain. https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Dark_Brotherhood#Reputation When you reach the reputation needed for the next quest, the NPCs should talk to you again. If you have Thieves Guild, it has a similar reputation system.

Leveling: you can keep going with your current character if you want! Your level or CP 160 really has very little impact on the questing system.

    Hope that helps. Good luck!

That would be where you've done a quest that 'supposed' to be later in the storyline than when you first 'should' have met the npc. For example, go to Wrothgar and do the quest for Lady Laurent. There will be 2 sets of dialogue, one for if you've laready met her, one for if you haven't. Now go back to Glenumbra and do the quest for her there. Because that was originally the first quest for her, there is no 'already met you' dialogue. They never went back to the earlier parts and added new lines for the characters. They probably should do that, but I doubt it's a priority these days.
Once I started the Auridon questline in Skywatch (halfway through the questline). I learned the identity of the Veiled Queen, persued the Veiled Queen, killed the Veiled Queen. Then went back to the start to do the first half and who do I see? The Veiled Queen. And nobody said anything.

This one is up to date since 3 days ago and will be your best bet to guide yourself from the start of the storyline all the way to the Greymoor expansion.

then you will run into the problem that things are too easy - just do it in a normal way.

You can look in your journal/accomplishments and the zones for each faction are listed in the order they were originally intended to be done.

You can right click on a quest and its says where you will have to be ("show location"). Usually - in Greymoor it doesn' t seem to work very well. I only found out after a few months. Not exactly an intuitive interface.

Getting there is another thing because the game by default only shows you the way by horseback or boat. Not wayshrines. Similar to a IRL navigation system that acts like planes don't exist while you want to travel from the UK to India for example. The journey make take a little longer than strictly necessary.

Often quests only tell to which town you have to go - but not in which province the town is located. What i also find confusing that the map doesn' t show which provinces are adjacent.
Sure, I can imagine that when ESO started and you were restricted to 3 or 4 provinces of your alliance that wasn' t such a big deal. We moved on to 25+ easily accessible provinces in the meantime. The system didn't move along with these changes, though.

    Agreed it's a subpar system. :#
