Lighting ideas for Hall of the Lunar Champion?

Hello all!

Brand new to the housing scene in ESO. It's hard to deny the utility of the Hall of the Lunar Champion home. It's free, has a big open space, and three segmented spaces that are also not small in size. It's incredible we didn't have to pay for this home, and I'm grateful!

However, I'm struggling to light the main Hall space. It's just so dark and open. I'm considering putting walls up to give light room to reflect, but the room space is a bit weird and I'm drawing a blank on ideas. Do any of you have examples of how you've used this space, specifically with regards to lighting it properly? Right now I've just got candles *everywhere*. Which is obviously not ideal...

Any and all tips are appreciated!

'Clockwork Illuminator, Capsule Chandelier'. I usually use 'Clockwork Illuminator, Solitary Capsule' in my large homes as they are some of the most powerful lights ingame (that still have a golden glow rather than orange or various other magical colours), although the Chandelier version (4 Capsules together basically) is sadly Crowns only iirc.

I do like brightly lit interiors (so I feel your pain regarding the large dark halls), although some people may find this too bright. You can also sink them into the walls/pillars/ceiling if you don't like the look of the lamp itself (the Clockwork Illuminators are smaller and more versatile regarding their placement). I left only the very tip of the chandelier visible, and it's only 1 item, but it gives off powerful light as you can see in the comparison image with it removed.

There is of course also the usual Culanda/Varla stone method, but these are aggressively orange and blue respectively, and look unnatural even if you mix the two. The new Vampire Chandelier also has a powerful glow (a sort of dark orange hue), but it's even more expensive than the Clockwork Chandelier. If slots aren't an issue, you can of course use more, smaller Chandeliers such as Orcish or Redguard ones throughout the sections of the ceiling.

And Lightposts can give off decent light too - there are no Khajiit Chandeliers or Lanters with particularly strong lights, but the 'Elsweyr Lightpost, Ancient Tall' fits Khajiit houses stylistically and is quite strong so it could work if you don't mind them embedded in the ceiling, or even having them stand as columns.

When ever i struggle for more light I use Culanda Stone, Glowing. The Hall of Lunar Champion took me 4-5 to brighten it up.

I usually attach them for the chandeliers, but even sunk into the walls, or the roof or the cieling of the room, they make the place quite bright.
There is a verion in blue - Varla Stone, Glowing, but than the light becomes neon.

Just expanding on what other people have already said by posting my response to someone else who asked this a few months ago.

I have mine lit with 7 Clockwork Illuminator, Solitary Capsule. It's warmly lit and inviting...don't know if it's outside bright but you could always add more if you wanted. In my opinion they provide the best neutral light in the game and cover a large area. What I did was sink one into the beam-generating thing in the center, then turned the rest on their sides and sunk them into the ceiling in each corner, then one at the top of the entry stairs, then the final one in the entry angled to match the slant of the ceiling. They provide great light and are completely invisible so they won't clash with any decor.

Some people also recommend combining Varla and Culanda Stones. They do provide a very bright white light, but it has too much of a fluorescent light quality for my taste. I prefer a warmer, more natural white.

Thank you @bluebird @ermenaa @Aisleyne ! These were incredibly helpful posts. I love the lighting that clockwork illuminator gives. It really brightens up the space without being too white (I want warm light). The photos with plants and things gave me a lot of ideas, as well. I'll play around this evening and see what I can come up with. Thank you again!

Sinking the Culanda Stones or the psijic glowing orb lights inside of other lights to make them brighter, or in the walls behind lights, etc. help a lot.

One small issue though is that the whole house is one instance, even with portals. All it does it move you a distance away like going inside a house does. Depending on your settings (and sometimes irregardless of them) these types of lights will not work when you go from one portal to another. My Culanda lights in Moongrave Fane wing don't light up if I go to one of the other portals first b/c I "outdistanced" the lights view distance wise. I guess other on/off lighting has a refresh and works, but for some reason always on lights like the Culanda stones, the new stain glass antiquity window and a couple other enchanted light sources will have this issue.
