What is the aim of the system? Finding the legendary item to sell it to 100k? May i find it daily or one a week? Anyone did find this kind of treasure? Other thing is furnitures. does it worth to hours? i want to know that what this boring system gives me? why am i digging? for trashes? edit: yes yes i found the new rune. tree times up to now.

Personally I love the new system, its a much better time sink than fishing and gives some great gold and furniture / cosmetic rewards.

It also forces you to explore and revisit old areas.

If you are not enjoying it, and don’t want any of the rewards, then don’t do it.

If some of the rewards you do want, then the time vs value judgement is yours alone to make.

If that is the case, then you will want to do do one of two things. Either rush through it, get whatever Antiquity rewards you want, and then forget about it until ZOS releases some new Mythic item... or forget it now and don't care about future reward updates.

The intent of the system appears to be something to do in overland to provide more in-depth lore, gold, items, crafting motifs, and of course the Mythic gear. As I see it, the best way to consume this is over time, not all at once. So, for example, if you have some crafting surveys or treasure maps for a zone, or are questing in that zone, then you can also do Antiquities while you are there.

My impression of this is more like afternoon tea than slamming down a Red Bull.

Really? What would you expect? A carrot on the stick that would keep you going forever? Many people are enjoying this system. Perhaps you are not into housing, that's OK, but then you can go for a cool mount of for one of the mythic items, which are powerful or very fun/useful (I have the Wind Hunt ring which helps alot with farming/traveling).

Also, the system is a great way for casual players to make gold.

For veteran players, such as myself, it is a great way to revisit areas that I haven't seen in 5 years. Besides, there is a whole new purpose for treasure maps, which I did not even bother to sell before this update. You also get new motifs which you can sell or use for your collection.

The minigame is fun. Some people burned through this and reached level 10 in a day or two. After doing it for hours without a break, yes, I am sure it feels like chore, and it is boring. But if you play it normally, this minigame is like fishing or farming mats, and more enjoyable.

There is alot to improve with this system in the future. New mounts, gear, mythics, motifs, furnishings, music boxes, emotes, maybe skins, who knows. Why dislike it? Options are good. None is forcing you to do it.

The system is as boring as watching mold grow up in the ceiling of my bathroom. Even my cactus is more interesting than scrying and excavating over and over and over and over.

However, while the big prize and the best incentive to do it are the mythic items there is one thing that shouldn't be missed, and is the insane gold farming potential.

All regions have by default a green lead unlocked that doesn't expire, with a treasure worth 250 gold. Now, 100% of the time you'll get a blue lead after finishing the green one, and if is the first time you do it you'll get a purple lead after finishing the blue one. The blue treasure is 1000 gold worth, and the purple on is 5000. If you go scrying the 3 first leads in all the zones you'll get 6250 gold per zone for a total of 30 zones: 187500 gold, only for some quick excavations in each zone. If you want to grind the most basic way, without getting dropped leads you'll find yourself with 1250 gold at base, for doing the two first ones (green and blue). Scrying and excavating these should take less than 5 mins both, since the minigames are pretty easy. After half and hour, and if you have good luck to get some purple leads you can get more than 50k gold.
Don't make me say the same thing twice. Don't make me say it a third time. I hate having to repeat myself because it's useless. ~Giorno Giovanna

Hm, well, I haven't even started the Greymoor story yet because hunting for antiquities doesn't leave me time for that xD.

@kind_hero for me you hit the nail on the head. For me as a longtime player it freshens up some older content. I definitely see treasure maps in a new light, instead of boring meh drops. I look forward to them now.

I was also surprised to find that, although I have pathfinder for the whole map (including cyrodiil) and the hero of Daggerfall and Pact zones, there were at least two digsites I had never laid eyes on before. So much so that I called my hubby to see the site and ask if he'd ever come across it before

The psijic questline made me revisit old sites in what, for me was a tedious grind for skill points. I am into housing and crafting and also like what I call the "lucky packet" effect. Opening a box for an unknown reward (for free, they can keep crown crates using RL money) This antiquities makes revisiting old sites fun for me.

That actually is an excellent idea, I was not very tempted to start this new system, but doing it now whilst I am doing my crafting surveys makes a lot more sense and does not require much more time once you have started.

Have you got the Thrassian Stranglers gloves? That involves a LOT of crappy fishing for one of the leads ;)

Same as any other activity in an MMO - give you another option for Something To Do.

Other thing is furnitures. does it worth to hours?

If you're into furniture & housing, yes. If you're not (like you seem to be), then no.

Just like every other thing you can do in this game - if you're not interested in what you get from it, or you don't enjoy the activity that leads to the rewards, you don't have to do it.

The Antiquity system is a nice side quest for those who want to collect the items you can get. Personally I'll do a few Antiquity leads to get the hang of the mini game. Then I'll work on only the items I want or have a high resale value.

I wouldn't call it a "waste", but it is a big time investment. I wouldn't mess with it too much until you are ready to commit, only because right now the leads are on a 30-day decay timer. You might find a rare furnishing or something you really want and not have the time to get your skills to the appropriate level.

I've been hitting it pretty regularly every day since launch, and am only up to level 4 1/2 in scrying/excavation, and need to be at 8 or 9 to use the gold leads I am finding. Higher for mythic I assume. But I have been trying to do other content at the same time, and am not laser-focused on antiquities.

I love it but I am taking my time, farming, doing surveys and treasure chests as I go. The first few days were very frustrating as everyone who wanted to be "first" kept linking their awesome finds while I was still just plodding along. I realized that I have always enjoyed ESO because I DID take my time with content and did everything at MY pace. When I stopped being "jealous" and realized I wanted to enjoy the system and my treasures everything got better.
