How do I cancel ground targeting abilities?

I thought I could do it but lately I can't remember how or if I can.

I found that setting already and that is not for canceling an ability that is targeting the ground.

To cancel a ground ability you have to cast it somewhere else. It will move the previous one.
If you mean animation cancel, you have to block or bar swap with a specific timing.

Sometimes I hit the wrong key and target the ground with an ability. when that happens i hit the ESC key which removes it.

Thanks guys. Blocking makes sense and I can do that.

I don't know where my memory is now as I just cannot remember.
