Think about it, at stage 4 it says “you are corrupted by vampirism” - your not starving at stage 1, you’re well fed and happy for it, just calmer, stage 4 you go too far.

There should be negative levels with crippling effects because you’re actually starving...but everyone wants to stay pretty.

I’m not putting down anyone who wants to stay pretty (I’m one of them) I’m just saying, we’re not really “staying fed” at this point, are we?

They can't even keep player / NPC behavior consistent anymore.

    Very tiny Greymoor spoiler:

Fenn here has not fed on account of being trapped in a box, and is suffering for it, yet if you look at his face he's definitely not in stage 1.

He's an actual vampire though. Players are not. It's all in the quest to become a vampire.

In the new vampire quest, you are told that there are two kinds of vampires now. Those that get stronger with hunger and those that get stronger with blood in your body. And players are now of the second type, while most vampires in the world is still of the old type.

So no break with internal logic.

You can explain away everything with Noxiphilic Sanguivoria but it would still be nice to have some consistency with how vampirism usually works in tes lore.

That being said, it really is more convenient this way.

The quest specifically says you are a corruption of vampirism meant to spite molag bal and run loose and feed out in the open and spread fear of all vampires and be rewarded for it. To damn both the world of vampires and molag bal.

Hmm ... this sounds like a dubious attempt to reconcile game design decisions with lore, but ... I guess I have to create yet another alt and play the vampire quest again now. B)

It is a cheap shot, and weren't necessary at all. If they had introduced the new vampire skills but kept the fact that you get stronger with hunger, then you would have seen many more vampires feeding all the time, since no one wants to be stage 4 anymore.

I think they did it to make it harder to stay stage 4, but as stage 4 is a VERY VERY bad place to be and everyone stays at stage one, keeping the old feeding lore would have made much more sense.

Guess it is an example of the devs not understanding the players again. :-)

They should just change vampires to be locked into a certain stage, instead of reducing it after a certain amount of time. This way players can balance the pro's and cons of their build around one single vampire stage. Without having to worry to accidently change stages at some point while playing, just because a timer said so. Especially now with the current cons, this is kind of a must.
Just create a food/drink to increase and reduce vampire stages.

And keep feeding for the fun of it, or only for changing the looks of your vampirism.
