why is the pvp crowd so hostile and rude to each other?

Keep in mind that most of the successful PvP players put 100's of hours into their game. They mistake success at PvP with success at life - in spite of the fact that they are 30 years old and living in their parents basement. These are also the first players to come onto the forums to complain about some build being OP when they lose a fight to it in Cyrodiil.

Relax. Other peoples attitudes are a reflection of them, not you.

I blame Greymoor being one the worst game patches in the history of gaming.

Because the PVP crowd is filled with young, immature people.

The only toxic behavior I have encountered in PVP, in the DC zone chat is with players telling the "devs" who may be on to fix the game in not so nice terms.

Apart from that we pretty chill.

We even have one player, who entertains us with his "weird" and varied stories.

Anyone who plays PC NA Grey Host will know who this is :)

We do have banter with each other but its all in good fun.

If a Dev is reading this post "Seriously, fix Cyrodiil. Its pretty bad"

The male hierarchy revolves around Intimidation and Domination and Most pvpers went through the same beginning of getting wrecked and were probly told to "Git Gud" as well and now they continue the cycle of toxicity when the bullied becomes the bully. They start winning and and now they think it is within their right to trash people the way they were trashed.

A lot of people channel their real-world anger into a fantasy world where they are able to be Top Rung for a change.

I think most violent acts are emulated behavior and people tend to recreate their trauma so rather than take it personal, I see it as a reflection of that person's environment. Anger is often misdirected bc people who are coping with trauma are often emotionally immature if they are trying to deny their ailments rather than name them and begin the healing process.

This is more of a general societal observation, This may just be how people act in PVP but MMO communities are no exception to this observation bc they are made up of real life people.

In short, don't take it personally, like I said, another person's anger rarely has anything to do with you unless you have personally done something to warrant it, that person had issues long before you came along.

This could be a fun philosophical chat.
Kids now can’t just have a little fight with bullies which lead to thing like taking it out on games or worse cases school shooting much better for them to be toxic on games or just let kids be kids and punch each other a little

    OP is kidding right?

PvP community has been far more approachable in my experience.

Not once have I had any fights or disagreements.

PvE? Oh you should see the spite I get when I simply ask the healer to at least do some light attacks in a base game normal when he isn't using his heal. A heal he only casts every thirty seconds... Yeah I have had some real problems with healers in PuGs, who seem to think they can't also damage the boss, for some reason.

probably should have been more clearer.

I'm on about in PVP, there's constantly been 2 people or a group constantly insulting each other, taking it to places that should be kept private, in the middle of zone chat and it's just not stopping.

Think you mean pve, you know where you havta have BiS max dps and already ran the trial/dungeon (you guys already scared the tanks off with your toxicity)

Whereas in pvp there's a lot of pug's instead of elitists

Because PVP is an environment that gives the chance to some problematic people to feel important and be what they can't be in real life.

Someone in IC sent me a private message calling me names, just because I managed to kill him. He called me a noob who can't play and uses only one skill and various other insults I cant write here.

But I generally ignore them and if someone is toxic, goes to my ignore list instantly.

You blew it mate. I had this happen in Aion, where after killing a player I got all kinds of "kek" in chat, which was the rough translation for "bad" from Elyos to Asmodian. I set up a shop: "If I'm bad, what does that make you", and they respawned to wherever they were bound.

That's why I said in my other comment in the PVE toxicity topic, that it's an issue with all online games. If you see my ignore list, it must be having around 40 names lol. :D

No. I meant PvP. Yet you are also correct - there are some real snot-nosed "Adam-Henry's" in PvE as well. I play equal parts of both PvP and PvE and the population of obnoxious knuckleheads seems higher in Cryodiil. At least in my view.

They are easy to find as they are usually tea-bagging.

It is so absurd when I see a streamer get beat in a game and their reaction is to talk about how bad the player was that beat them. Pretty pathetic coping mechanism.

Oh yeah, I saw that kind of thing happen about 1 or 2 weeks ago in PC-NA EP Gray Host.

Someone was /yelling at another player, calling them out for being into animal abuse and posting highly inappropriate content on the guild discord... well, I'll spare you the details of that, but this was not an isolated incident - they continued harassing that other person everywhere they went (I was in the same group) for a good 15-20 minutes at least, until I eventually put the offender on ignore.
I do not know either of the people involved, and I do not belong to the guild in question, so I don't know whether the accusations were true or not.

But FWIW, I've been PvPing in ESO for about a year and this is the first time I've seen this kind of messed up stuff in zonechat. Usually it's pretty chill, even in otherwise fairly desperate times.
