Does that mean it won't work if I have add-ons or just that you don't have add-ons?

I did try earlier with a completely fresh Stadia account (expecting to create a new character) and it wouldn't start then either.

Yes. I just paid $10 to Stadia for access to the PC servers (had a $10 coupon, and bought the base game). Since I connected Stadua to my account, I am on my PC account with full use of my ESO+.

It's gamepad mode with no addons. I just did my writs. That's what I'd expect to do on Stadia right now: my writs on my tablet. I'll try connecting my personal gamepad and Chromecast later. I had no time to diagnose lag because I was dealing with the on-screen controls.

It did freeze on me twice: once in the cinematic intro, and then after I logged out of my master crafter. But no problems in game. I was not using a supported tablet either, but when it was in game, everything I saw was fine.

Once you link, can you go back and forth? Play using the ESO launcher or play using Stadia, or are you locked into Stadia?

I dont think I'm locked into Stadia now ( the way I understand Steam takes over). I have not checked but I really doubt cats the case.

According to this article cross-save and cross-play are both in play. Idk, obviously, but I expect the cross-save means we can play the same characters when logged into the PC client and Stadia client. I have no interest in Stadia so I will not be testing this.

Just tried it on Stadia and it is a very smooth experience, but beware it varies depending upon your internet connection as well as your local network stability. Looks as good as my PC, not sure what resolution I'm getting. It does vary depending upon the time of day, but Stadia is typically pretty smooth. No issues w/ ESO atm. I want to try it later w/ a controller. No noticeable lag w/ mouse/keyboard.

The fun part is that you don't have access to your UserSettings.ini file to boost your Gamepad speed, ROFL, OMEGALOL, LUL, so everyone with controller is stuck with Console like speed, which is slow asf.

Yes but it seems to default to a console interface if you have a controller connected.

ESO is a win for Stadia, as it is a very popular MMO game, right now.

I don't see Google as some knight riding in on a white horse to save the oppressed from server lag.

PC NA is the server they are using, and compared to PC EU, it is a low pop server. That is probably why they chose PC NA.

And I just logged on as normal on my PC. Addons still there, no lockout like Steam, and the writs are done.

I just tried eso in stadia (in my browser on PC).
Works as a charm, and you can choose NA or EU server in the login screen (I'm on PC-EU). Picked a chest and got a lead :)

Closed stadia, went back in the game through my PC. And my character was where I left her in Stadia (with the lead I got).

No addon's of course, but it's OK for doing writs or simple resource-gathering on my very old laptop (which cannot run ESO because the video-card is ancient).

Now, If google would just allow my phone to run stadia.... but there are ways to make that work

I'm normally a PS4 player but I just tried out the stadia version. The first thing I noticed was that the opening cinematic didn't have any sound. Once I got past that, it worked really well for about 45 minutes (similar graphics and responsiveness to PS4 pro, with much faster loading times), but then something happened with my network connection and the graphics got all blocky (compression artifacts) and everything I did had a 1-second lag.

I'm sure I'll give it another try later, but the chance of a random connection slowdown completely breaking the game is probably a deal breaker for me if it happens very often.

Stadia's as good as dead anyway. I'm surprised anybody's still bothering with it.

    This is what I'm thinking...

Do you mean the rotten TESO foundation or Stadia?

You are talking as if Stadia hasn't been broken since day one. I'd be more to argue "which is the more broken foundation - Stadia or TESO?" =D

Seriously, this isn't going to be an issue. Not because PC megaserver is prepared, but because barely anyone can play Stadia reliably at all already and, despite the ads still running, hardly anyone is buying/playing Stadia at this point. The whole thing is a giant joke.

Assuming where you go on vacation has the internet speeds and reliability to allow Stadia to work anywhere near reliably - sure. Though in practice, many people are experiencing many problems getting it to do just that (run internet connected games without tons of reliability/lag issues). Speaking of Stadia, btw, not TESO :).

It will only have as good of graphics as your hardware has. So you will only ever have PS4 Pro quality graphics at best. But it should take a good chunk of the workload from your console which means the game should run smoother with faster loads. You should see improvements with heavier graphics loads as well such as large group fights.

You clearly don't understand how Stadia works.

On Stadia, all of the processing happens on Google's servers, so the graphics you get have nothing to do with your client hardware. In my specific case, I was playing Stadia through a Chromecast, which has far less processing power than a PS4 Pro. I still get PS4 Pro-like graphics though because all the Chromecast has to do is decode a video stream.

i was really excited to try eso on stadia for the prospect of being able to do writs etc on the go.
after some login issues i got it working both in chrome and on my phone.
    • biggest issue is no addons. the only valid reason for me to use it on stadia wouldve been writs and riding training, dailies etc. i do those on 9 toons so without addons i wont bother.
    • input lag was not noticeable for me. surprisingly.
    • loading times were definitely faster than on pc (i have an SSD, so relatively quick, but still stadia was faster)
    • graphics are way worse than on pc (to be fair, i was used to reshade, but still, lower graphics quality on stadia, definitely)
    • also locked at 30 fps which sucks
    • being stuck with gamepad ui for inventory management is also *** as a pc player. console players are used to that. so for them stadia might be worth a shot.

for me, it was a disappointment overall. :( downgrade from my pc performance. not sure i would want to bother with it when traveling as i really cant live without addons by now.

if you have a potato pc or are frustrated by console server performance it might be worth it. :)
