Buoyant steel has already been found, you can get it from Fishing in Ocean fishing spots, I'd recommend fishing in Stros M'kai just because that's where the part is excavated.

If anyone has, they haven't admitted it.

Just out of curiosity, does the Buoyant Steel lead have a low drop rate? I've been fishing in salt water spots in Stros M'Kai (and some other zones) for a few hours now. :/

Ok cool, I'll keep at it then. Thanks for the reply!

Mystic pools in Artaeum. Got mine in about 30 minutes of fishing.

Can anybody confirm Buoyant Steel drops on Saltwater in any other region than StrosMKai or maybe Daggerfall Covenant area?

I have been fishing ~ 1 hr in Stros'M'Kai and then read here its all saltwater, so I continued to go to areas I didnt have the fishing achievements in. Another ~5-6hrs later I finished the whole AD area, Gold Coast and Hew's Bane...

    Starting to wonder if
    a) it is indeed limited to certain areas
    b) that it maybe got changed silently when they fixed the coral plating
    c) I need to do something special? maybe use the wrong bait, dont use fishing food ?

One of the thrassian strangler leads can indeed be found fishing in saltwater in Stros, and another from fishing the spots in Artaeum.

I can confirm it can be fished from salt water in Stros. I was in a group of 3 and got it in 30 minutes using the Artaeum fisher food.

But did anybody get it outside of Stros ?

( I mightve spend hrs upon hrs .... in the wrong location)

    Edit:
Okay, I went back to Stros and got it within 30min....
so I am quite sure: it does NOT just drop from any salt water hole. Either its only Stros or DC areas / starter regions (those are the ones that I had already done the fishing achievs in and did not try)

Yes, I spent 2 hours in order to get it.

I have found that if you use the Lure Allure then you won't get the lead. Spent around two hours myself when the thought occurred to me so i switched out my food and two fish later i got the lead. Tried on two characters and worked the same unless i have really freaky luck. I think it is because the Lure Allure forces a blue or green fish every time you get something other than an ordinary fish or bait. I don't get gunny sacks with it either.

Fishing with the fishing food last night, got gunny sacks just the same. Coldharbour. It doesn't remove the chance to get it. Might reduce it though. Can't really say.
