people using teleport hacks to harvest entire maps

i've been in Kenarthi for the past few days gathering mats. And I've seen people using a hack that lets them teleport around the map, from node to node without actually moving. How am I supposed to report this? They aren't visible long enough to get their name for reporting. ZOS needs to do something about this. Use a system where if 3rd party software is detected, its auto perma-ban. This is ridiculous that one person can harvest and entire region in under and hour. its so bad that ancestor silk is no longer obtainable in Kenarthi's Roost because this person is teleporting to the nodes so quickly.

How do you know they're teleporting from node to node?

I tend to save surveys until I have a lot of them for a particular zone, and if I have a stack of 2 or more of the same survey I'll sometimes collect the survey, then travel to a house I don't own yet to preview it, then immediately exit the house which puts me back at the same survey spot so I can collect it again.

To someone watching me, that might look like I'm teleporting from node to node if they see me do the "touching stars in the air" fast travel animation, then later sees me materialize at a node-- but it's the same node I was already at, and I still need to ride or run or take a wayshrine to get to the next node's location.

Also, it can actually take longer for me to use the house preview trick that way, as opposed to simply running or riding away from the node and then going right back to it, because there's a good chance I'm going to get stuck in a long loading screen, or in some cases kicked out to the server login screen.

But there have been times when I've had to ride away from and then back to a node multiple times to get it to reappear, due to not having gone far enough away from it to trigger the respawn. The required distance seems to vary from site to site, and it can even vary at the same site depending on which direction you go in-- case in point, there's a survey in Bangkorai by the Wyrd tree location that respawns easily if you go do a loop around the nearby Wyrd hut, but if you go in the opposite direction then you have to go further away than that before the node will respawn.

Note that I'm specifically talking about survey nodes, not normal nodes. I've never tried the housing preview trick with regular nodes, but I assume they won't respawn until their timers say it's time to. And the housing preview trick definitely does not let you go from one node site to another, since it always returns you to your existing location. So we might not be talking about the same things, but I'm just saying that if someone were to see me disappear or (re)appear then they might not understand what they're seeing.

I doubt there's a "teleport hack" being used here. Could be lag coupled with a speed farming set making them look like they're teleporting around vast distances among the other explanations

you can run about 50 yards away from the node and it will reset. I do this to get more cornflower with the alchemy surveys. It works for stacks of the same survey as well.

The actual underlying trigger is going into the adjacent cell and going back. In some cases, the Survey Location is very close to a Cell Boundary, in others, it is in the middle of the cell. For example, there is a Metal Survey in Wrothgar right next to a WS, just riding around the WS resets the Survey. Where others I have to ride a bit of a distance to trigger the reset.

My rule of thumb is Line of Sight. If I can no longer see the Survey location, I have gone far enough.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Pretty much this. Most of us can record video of our gameplay. Windows 10 has a gameplay record and I used to use what Nvidea provides. Make sure to capture the character name or @ name in the video.

The ticket makes more sense as here in the forums we have not seen what you see and it is best to let Zos sort things out.

BTW, bots ported around the game shortly after launch. It would look like they were logging in, taking a step forward to interact with a quest NPC and then appeared to log out which was presumably just moving to the next location. I was obvious it was bots and not a player who just happened to log out there since it was one after another after another after another. So yes, bots can port.

"Around the map from node to node" is not the same as one small concentrated 5m-8m radius for surveys no?

If someone magickally "teleports" 20+ meters and the node disappears, then it happens again, and again, and again....that is not someone harvesting surveys.

mDKs still need a lot of love!

Not if he lags like crazy xd I don't recognize half of my abilities animations because of the lags and delays. Sometimes my nightblade stuck just to do animations od 7 attacks i casted during the freeze at 1 sec. Beauty of this game

I’ve got a good half dozen spots for farming that aren’t on any guides or YT videos with optional extended loops in case there are others farming it. I know my spots well enough that I can zip through with ease but have seen players in speed gear zip by me with streak (I’m using bird of prey on my warden) and they blow past.

The only thing I see is people get on and off a horse about 10x the speed I can do the same and a maxed horse beats me in a foot race every time.

Shades of 2014 in here, where the heavy use of client-side processes allowed players to glitch through the terrain and even harvest nodes from underground. And people were harvesting nodes on one instance which would then vanish on the others, meaning you couldn't even be sure which glitch was occurring.

I have a set of gear that allows me to almost infinitely sprint faster than a max speed mount. I can harvest full regions in an hour with it, easily.

You should make sure that what you're seeing isn't that kind of thing paired with the current, horrendus lag issues.

...AND phasing. Nodes can sometimes disappear if you are on a phase line.

I don't even stay mounted when harvesting. If I do, eventually (in less than a couple of minutes) I get forcibly logged out (MAJOR ping due to satellite being my only available connection - other than dialup....) So I just run, and take what I can get....

False positives can do a lot of harm. Legit players could find themselves unable to play, for instance.

Likewise, collaborating to correctly identify bots also increases the likelihood of eliminating the proper target.

There's benefit to this kind of conversation, provided it remains informative and civil.

yup sounds like phasing issues may be popping back up. however this doesnt mean someone is exploiting it although the potential might be there

I've seen this type of botting stuff done as well, I thought I was tripping out at first just seeing another server instance or w/e but the nodes in this area would disappear before I could pick them up and there was this person blinking in and out in a loop so I was able to grab the tag and report. Spooked me for a min tho this was before Greymoor!

it sounds more like the old move to map position exploit that used to be around years ago... there used to be something when it was client side procced that could reload the client with a new map pos based on the coords by injecting it into the memory sequence. that then fooled the server that the user was there, and it would refresh their position and give the appearance they suddenly jumped..

And that's just one reason why people shouldn't be so quick to dismiss it because the real cheaters could be hiding their activities by handwaving it away with these "explanations". Record the video, report it to ZOS, let them sort it out.
