How hard could it be? I know it depends one US time but cant ZOS just release the maintenance at nights? We are in 2020 where technology developed so much.

It is currently 1:33 AM where I am. That means, it is night. I am one hour behind where the servers are, so it's night there too.

Anyway, yeah OP I agree. Would appreciate it if they did maintainces at night at EU time for once.

But ZoS is America blabla, so it won't likely ever happen.

There is no "ideal" time for a maintenance. You might enjoy a later schedule, but what about people in your time zone with a different schedule to yours, where the maintenance currently occurs while they're at work, or asleep? Until everyone adopts a GW 2 type build philosophy, from the ground up, this is going to be inconvenient for someone, somewhere.

Well, they stated multiple times that the EU server is the most populated. One could argue that the more populated server should get the finer treatment. But they also stated that, largely due to timezones, the EU primetime is more condese. Plus ZOS is US based so it kinda makes sense they do it when neither EU nor US is in primetime. Not that I like to always have maintenance during daytime.

oh my, where is the problem - go buy some grocery for the weekend or have a marvelous breakfast with a lot of time to spend enjoying it for once - all this outcry just because you got 2 extra hours to get some rl stuff done meanwhile - use them.

PC EU has been moved from 08:00 GMT to 06:00 GMT who is the same time as the dailies reset.
Preferred 08:00 as I could do crafting writs and other stuff done before going to work.

Odd as UK right now are on BST not GMT due to daylight saving lol.

    Wish it was 6am BST.

It's not much consolation but this is emergency maintenance due to the shower that was the Greymoor Launch. Normal maintenance is always Tuesday 08:00 UTC. However, if your country does daylight savings as the seasons change, you'll have to take it up with your government. Europe and the UK time zones vary from UTC by as much as 2 Hours depending on the season (with regards to not getting dailies before work in the morning).

I get it if they put the servers down simultaneously if a new Chapter or DLC is beeing released, because otherwise the people who are later would complain. But for real maintenance I don't understand why they have to shut down the servers simultaneously. Just maintain the american servers at american night and the european servers at european night... This chapters release has been a joke so far. The server was on for 2 hours on release day in EU before beeing shut down again. Yesterday I had a ping of 340 in the new zone while beeing 30km away from the EU servers, which are situated in Frankfurt/Germany. And now on the 3rd day the servers go down at 8AM and will probably not come back before evening...

I believe, sometime in the past there used to be separate maintenance between EU and NA servers but I think it changed to NA time subsequent to One Tamriel being introduced. The Beta players could tell you I guess? They would need two crews to do the maintenance otherwise.

They are doing it at nighttime. Their nighttime. Since they do it for both servers at the same time, since its the same code... that's just how it is for us in europe. They are not bloody likely to change their american schedule to cater to people here... so we just are gonna have to grin and bear it.

The problem is not really the 8am schedule (or 10am in my timezone).

THe problem occurs when it should be done at 10am but the maintanence continues until 7-8-9pm and I only get an hour of playtime. And the prolonged maintanence as almost a weekly occurance. Even multiple times a week since graymoor.

Don't get why they can't have 1 maintenance schedule or EU and one for US

Probably because the people who apply fixes when problems occur are in the U.S. There is probably a lot of prep work to do before they pull the servers down and also, in case something does go wrong, they can apply the fix on both servers at the same time.
