I know a lot of people make fun of the big bright yellow "The server is coming down for maintenance in X minutes" warnings, but some of us really rely on them. When you're focusing on combat or exploration or tracking down antiquities it is very easy to lose track of time, and I would've liked to not be right in the middle of excavating when the server shut down.

That's the last thing on their mind at the moment with about 99 other issues.

i think that was just a one time thing. I had the warning last night on the ps4 for scheduled maintenance.

The lack of notice was almost certainly an oversight, not a change in policy. There were 15, 10, 5, and 1 minute warnings for last night's maintenance.

But... yeah. I was beginning to think I'd misread the maintenance schedule when we crept closer to maintenance without any in-game announcements.

And slightly past it. I was seriously considering starting on some daily dragons.

But all the happy players don't frequent the forums, so really they are only inconveniencing THIS population here ;) . Surely those in game outside of the forums were just fine with that. :)

Yeah, I really doubt it was intentional. I'd chalk this one up to either a glitch or somebody forgetting to set it up.

I lost track of time while playing & was only made aware that there should have been notices around 10:55. Just as I was told that 2 a.m. EDT had dinged, the server dropped. My poor baby Redguard is gonna get her butt kicked all over Stros M'kai when the server comes back up...

I do use the notices to get to a safe place. I usually play til kicked, but that last 60 or so seconds is me getting my character to a safe place for when she logs back in.

The hearsay is that they accidentally gave everyone access to Greymoor so in light of that fark up, they had to take down the servers.

Is it really? I hope it's fully fixed but the abrupt server takedowns are questioning previous patch 'fix'. ;)

From what I could tell from many people, nobody could travel to Greymoor that hadn't purchased it but they still had the skill set for excavating and scything.

Im pretty sure this fix is for people who still can't access greymoor after buying it though.

I wasn't online when the server was going down this time, but yesterday i was and the servers going offline in 30, 15, 10, 5 minutes warnings etc were given out on screen in several languages, so they have the system in place it was just an oversight someone forgot to activate it is all, chit happens. I am aware when servers are due to shutdown and i keep this in mind when i play and try not to start something i might not finish in time and to help me with this i have this amazing device called a "CLOCK" that sits next to my monitor which i can glance at and still see the screen too.. amazing thing it is too. :p

How many more warnings do you want...

Well yeah lol, if I've already had ~15 minutes of warning that the server was going to go down! Can't you? ;)

The "abrupt" server take down was announced on twitter and on the launcher last night, that's how "sudden" it was. It was extra maintenance and for once they forgot to switch on the warning messages. They were there when they did the extra one yesterday so I guess someone just forgot to hit the correct button or whatever to make it pop up today too.

And today's maintenance was about the opposite according to ZOS, to give the players who had bought Greymoor but couldn't access it their access back. I really do hope this fixes it and we see no more maintenances this week. I think my limit is at five.

I wasn't online before any of the other maintenance takedowns in the past few days so I didn't have any reason to know they were still doing the in-game notices. They've changed so much else on purpose that it really did not occur to me that they'd miss doing something by accident.

I don't think anyone was saying that it was a surprise that there was a maintenance. I KNEW there would be a maintenance. I lost track of time & actually when others in the zone started mentioning it & I checked the time, I thought it was an hour overdue (for some reason I always add 4 hours rather than 3 when I'm trying to figure out EDT from PDT).

THAT is the reason it was "sudden" and "abrupt". They usually give us warnings & last night that did not happen. No need to be snarky when people are letting ZoS know that something didn't work or didn't work right.
