I, and many others, are still wanting to know if the hardware upgrades promised in 2019 for the NA server ever happened. A dev clearly stated the physical upgrades were needed to the server to fix lag and other issues, but then the signal went dead and we haven't heard anything about it since.
I'm wondering why merely bringing this issue up is a problem for some.

Why do you think the Game Director is lying or mistaken about 2019 PC/NA upgrades?

"Here's how it will work:
We will take PC EU offline tomorrow (Thursday, April 18) morning at 12pm CEST/6am EST for maintenance to configure the megaserver to recognize the additional hardware. Stay tuned for messaging from our Social and Community teams on how long the outage will be.
At some point next week we will do the same for PC NA - even though we haven't had to turn on queuing for PC NA, we want to make sure additional capacity is added there as well to keep up with the growing population on that megaserver."

They want a personal response. They want someone from ZOS to run out here and say that they did. I don't know why, because once ZOS does that, the response will be predictable...
1. Uh. Thanks.
2. Liar, nothing changed!
3. Not good enough
(Edit: This from the one that says ZOS should communicate more)

At no point have I accused anyone of lying or being mistaken. I've only asked for confirmation that the promised server upgrades actually happened or not. Judging by performance, they did not. The community would like to know if the problem is a lack of investment in hardware to support their software, or if it's actually a software issue. And yes, they absolutely DO owe the community, those that give them their money, some communication on these issues.

Matt Firor said the PC/NA ones were happening, all the way back in 2019, just like he did for the PC/EU ones which clearly happened. With that in mind, I'm not sure why you think he was wrong (lying or mistaken) that the 2019 PC/NA ones never happened.
You seem to be judging by performance, which is a misunderstanding of what exactly those 2019 upgrades were meant to accomplish. They were meant to be proactive on PC/NA to prevent the issues plaguing PC/EU since Jan 2019 due to high peak population: extreme lag, loading screens, and general broken instances as the servers approached their population limits that required login queues to even stay playable. PC/NA wasn't meant to see a big improvement because our problems weren't as bad as PC/EU, our peak population wasn't as high, and the 2019 upgrade made it so we didn't end up with the same problems by adding more capacity on top of the extra capacity we had relative to PC/EU. So if you are judging by 2019 performance, no, you wouldn't have seen a big improvement. We just weren't having the same level of problems, so the proactive solution doesn't show the same level of dramatic improvements as it did on PC/EU.
Now, if you are judging by 2020 performance, the upgrades from last year might not still be sufficient for the growing PC/NA population in 2020, but that's after a year of growth, new bugs, and the rather unexpected spike in players due to world events. So I'm all for asking about current plans and if we need another server upgrade right now, given that we know ESO is still gaining lots of new players.
What I don't see is the need for personal assurances that the 2019 PC/NA upgrades really happened like Matt Firor said they were going to. He's ESO's Game Director - he's not going to publicly say they're upgrading one of their major servers and then somehow not do it.

I'm not asking for personal assurances. Stop mischaracterizing what I'm doing. I'm asking for the entire PvP community, not just for myself. Most of everyone who's asked this question has been banned, so they don't get to come on the forum and ask anymore.
How are we, as end users, to know that ZOS is actually making the hardware investments needed to support their software with ZERO communication from them about it, and only extremely poor performance as evidence to go on? Trust isn't a thing when dealing with corporations. Corporations are obligated to those that spend money with them to provide customer support and timely updates to their products. It's strange that so many seem to think Zenimax should be an exception to this unwritten contract customers have with the companies they do business with.
