With the change to vampirism, making it so a high level means you can't use merchants and the use of powers in cities getting you attacked will it ever get acknowledged in the story and dialogue.
At the moment it seems if you play a Vampire you are some sort of self hating Vampire denying Vampire. Very quickly into the story you run into Vampire and you get to say things like 'How Can a VAMPIRE help here' (I'm being vague cause I don't want to ruin the story), moments later he leaves you because he wouldn't be welcome where you are going because his a Vampire????
So much time and work is spent crafting these stories and yet there feels like there is no player agency. At best its just a little confusing such as when its suggested that someone sent you to help... no I took a wayshrine here and ran up to the first person with a diamond shape over their head and that lead me here. It would have been much cooler if I had been sent but sadly no. But at worst I find it encourages skipping the dialogue all together as I don't need to hear or read Generic text, Generic text, something generic about help now off to follow some markers to pick up something or kill something for 309 gold or whatever and a green piece of gear. In some level Ive fought daedric princes and dragons and dark brotherhood executer, psijic order but sure ill go run round on a fetch quest for 309 gold, may as well just skip the generic nobody and there generic request for help.
Really looking forward to the gothic horror theme of the new expansion, would love that as a Vampire or werewolf or just a bad person you could side with the bad guys as they are so much cooler. But I know that will never happen but it would be so nice to feel that my character had some agency in the proceeding rather than the dumb bruiser that just goes and beats up what his told to for a couple of shineys. It really lets down the great work and story if it just becomes yeah yeah something is happening big bad, ill go kill it don't thank me or act like I have any option in any of this. Its the nod and agree to do the quest, or not bother to play as my two options as always.
