I just watched the Greymoor trailer on Steam, and it's a really good piece of cinematic, but it makes me ask the same question every time I watch an ESO trailer:
Why can't the light and heavy attacks in the game reflect, even a little, what the devs envision in these trailers?
Essentially, using multiple light attacks should have some kind of combination effect where one swing leads into another; holding for a heavy attack (or several) should, again, have some kind of combination or follow-through.
From other threads and other players contributions, there's plenty of data out there that shows both light and heavy attacks have way longer animations than damage window, which is the root for the weaving mechanic. Heavy attack, especially, has an animation of 2.2-seconds when the damage for a 'full-heavy' tops out at 1.1 (if I remember correctly, but you get the point).
Instead of stuff like reducing LA damage by crazy% or doubling resource-gain, I think the extra animation time provides an excellent opportunity to just add some follow-through swings into the LA and HA gameplay. At the very least, it'll make heavy attacks feel less constipated.
