Why!!!
Im already at 18/18 waiting for the chapter to drop so I can start a new character.
Is it to force us to try and buy the game twice?
Of the current mmos, why is ESO so bad at having character slots!

Their reasoning for adding character slots in previous chapters was usually because they added a new class.

    Don't know about Summerset.

That's a very unreasonable assumption. 18 characters per server is a lot.

Just curious - What number would you be satisfied with?

This one would be satisfied with 24. One per role per profession.

30 - 1 per role per class & 1 per role per affliction, seems like a logical number to me, but even 1 slot for Vampire and 1 for Werewolf on top of the 3 per calss would be nice
but never gonna happen (server storage costs too much for ZOS' pockets)

They didn't say there would be a new character slot, there was no new character slot on the PTS, I am unsure why you were expecting a new character slot. They usually advertise it as a feature if there is going to be one. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news :(

According to the general consensus, you need most of them for storage.

    10 races, 6 classes.
60 slots for 6 classes per race sounds good. I'm NOT saying I'd use 60 slots, but it could be the top end of available slots.

I'm not counting hybrids either lol.

Not everyone uses all their character slots, so for those of us maxed at 18, the unused slots by players (which they could hypothetically max out slots and choose not to), could at least be considered part of the potential server load as if everyone maxed their slots. In other words, there is room for more character slots to be made available for those that would be willing to buy them.

    Just saying.

Personally I am not so keen on making more characters... tho I -would- have liked to see the greymoor tutorial.

Oh, well, maybe someday they will add a "Cadwells" for tutorials... they could give out a skill point for each of those, and finally silence the "but... those characters that played expansion tutorials AND the coldharbour tutorial got an extra!" cries of the older players...

I have played several mmos, I came from wow to eso, in wow the limit is 50 characters per realm. I played swotor where it was at the time 54 per server, I have played GW 2, where the character limit is 71. In addition in swotor and gw2 you have to pay for some character slots just like in eso. So no to me having more than 18 is not unreasonable at all.

That's a lot of characters. You need to ask ZOS for your own zip code.

The runts: The Trolly Spirit (Tank Sorc), Floods-Your-Basement (Warden Healer) Dinah Asthma (Magcro), Total Top Tony (Stamcro)

    The traitor
s: Janis Javelin (Stamplar, EP), Barbecue Becky (Magblade Healer, AD)

18?? Never even noticed. What do you do with 18 characters; how does anyone have the time to play/manage 18 chars? Not to mention ALL the other games out there. Jesus, I am either not getting it, (obviously) or people need to leave there dungeons, parents basements and get a RL...

Adding new character slots seems eminently reasonable after they implement the Cold Storage feature noted in their performance road map.

As it is now, we have characters from players who quit the game long ago hogging database resources alongside characters that are played every day. Those are characters that need to be stored, managed, and queried against constantly, which is wasting server storage and computational cycles.

Moving them to their own servers and out of everyday use would free up a lot of headroom for the more consistently active players to use for new slots.

Then zos needs to rethink that stance.
In ESO there are many different builds you can have. Disregarding min maxing, lets say you go with only a Templar.

That Templar you may have a stamina, magicka, health, or mixed build. That's 4 slots so far.

Further in each of those 4 slots, magicka for example you can further build out a dps, tank or healer.
So we have a Magicka Templar, who is a dps, tank or healer. An additional 2 slots there for Templar build.

Next we have 6 weapons. That same Magicka Templar may have two weapon sets. So at minimum lets say we have the same Magicka Templar, who has is a pure mage (destro and resto staff), battle mage (two handed and S&B), a Mage Archer (bow and dual wield). These count as only 2 additional slots as well.

Next we can further build this same Magicka Templar using gear, light, heavy or medium. However lets ignore this as it can be argued that the classes above are dependent on the type of gear yo build as well as the weapon. Similarly lets ignore race as well, even tho many people like to have 1 class as multiple different races.

So we have for a Magicka Templar alone a total of 8 character slots minimum. There are 6 classes in eso (ignoring werewolf and vampires as possible classes), 6 x 8 = 48 character slots minimum.

As a player I would thus like a minimum of 48 character slots minimum, even if we have to buy the additional slots.

Crap. Luckily I saved my last one to experience the new tutorial, then I will have to rethink how I proceed after that. Pretty lame paying 60 bucks and none of the perks received in the past.

Across live and the PTS, I have made over 160 characters, so that's 36 on live (18 on each), 124 waiting to be made, so I'd be happy with 80 slots per server.

Then you buy additional accounts like any other ESO player with multiple accounts.

    Pretty simple.

We shouldn't have to resort to this, other games aren't so slot-stingy.

Or.. you could use the system that lets you reset skills, morphs, stats and cp.. Instead of demanding more slots, use the systems in place already.. you don't need several slots for the same character, just because he wants to change stats/weapons

Hi my name is Shaiel and I am an altaholic. I'm here for the meeting with other people that have too many characters. I just want to suggest ZOS giving us class change tokens. I guess they would make more money selling the skill lines or skyshards the other way though. I've totally paid for those. I would also pay for level 50 boosts so I don't have to find a friend to skyreach me and then we watch Netflix for hours. Just take my money zos and add an instant level 50 booster like other MMOs do, doesn't matter if we have the getting to 50 achievement or not.

Also another suggestion, I know it is 99.9% impossible to happen on ESO, but on FF14 we can be all the classes with the one character and they all share the achievements on that one character. You can still roll alts but there's not much point other than role-play, since when a new class drops you just equip the new weapon for that.

I would like the option to take an existing character through the new tutorial. Might be nice if taking the wagon from Wayrest (or whatever other foul alliance city you might want to start in) took a player to the tutorial instead of the starting wayshrine and for players that wanted to skip tutorial they would have a different first path to the zone.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."
