To my surprise there's no loose doors available?!

They don' t have to "work" but it would be nice to put a few in your house to show the door is open or half closed or whatever.
Perhaps even to close off parts of your house for visitors for whatever reason.
Why not have doors of every type available as woodwork recipe?

Or am I missing something?

No, no doors as such.

There's a gate from the Elsweyr achievement merchant, but it's quite over the top (literally made out of gold, has dragons on it, it can glow too) There was also the fence-gate they added to the luxury furnisher last week (and it's awesome ) but it's also not a door. There will also be a Crown Crate Nord style crypt door according to datamining, but yeah, not a usual door either.

Most people fake doors by using the large 'Bolted' Paintings - their back is just wood, so if you turn 2 of them facing inwards it looks like a panel of wood. You can also add handles by using a Spool or any other type of knobby item. You can also get those paintings fairly cheaply so it's a nice solution.

yes I have seen those, but for rounded doors (like redguard, HE) that won't suffice.

Weird that there's no doors (after 6 years?).
Especially since they already exist and only have to be added to the options.

Again, this comes back to the choices made by devs on the items that get selected to become furntiture items. One would think that walls, doors, windows, roofs would be amongst the first things to make the cut when picking assets to make into furniture items but alas....
Ive probably made this point a hundred times but here goes again...
We have over a hundred different rocks, more trees than a forest, more tables and chairs than Ikea..... and ONE door!!
One bright gold flashy door that's only available as an achievement item.
@ZOS_CullenLee surely after 3 years of housing somebody sees this as an oversight?!
