What are some good single-player challenges?

cmorris975
I know, I know. It's an MMORPG designed primarily around group content.

As it should be.

I often don't have the time to set aside to properly concentrate on running a vet dungeon. Or I don't feel like it as players tend to rush groups through that kind of stuff at manic speed. I might want a more relaxed and immersive pace that I can sometimes only get playing solo.

Is there challenging single-player content? I'm sure there is.

Are some areas of the game harder than others? My character is a CP 200-ish sorcerer. I know running group dungeons can be a good challenge as a single-player, but I am wondering if there is any content in this game that will make me sweat solo that also is not designed primarily for groups.

Or maybe there are crafting grinds I could work on? I've never done *any* crafting in ESO. I'm not really a crafting kind of guy but I could try it if it is a challenging thing to do that would bring some nice rewards.

What are the hardest public dungeons is ESO? Maybe I could have some fun with those.

    Maelstrom arena
    NB enthusiastic:
    1. Woodhippie stamblade - DW hard-hitter / PvE
    2. Know-it-all elf Magblade - Healer / PvE & PvP
    3. Hate-them-all elf Magblade - Destrostaff AoE monster / PvE
    4. Cyrodiil-Refugee stamblade - Stamina Tank / PvE

    Go dominion or go home

Nightblade-Hipster. I played Nightblade before it was cool - from 1.5 onwards.

    Soloing group dungeons.

^ Although it is worth mentioning that not all can be done solo, because some dungeons have mechanics that for example stun you permanently till one of your group mates does something like interrupt a boss , use synergy etc.

Yes, I've done a bit of that. I think it's fun but feels a bit weird as you can tell you are doing group content but you are alone.

    Certainly challenging though.

What I am looking for is a challenge not designed specifically around groups. Like a particularly hard public dungeon that might have a little better loot rewards as a result.

That does unfortunately not exist. The hardest content you will find in overland zones are worldbosses and dragons.

Wothgar has a few nice public dungeons (and WB's), reward is a personal preference, for me it is the battles and Briarheart set pieces.

You could try some of the craglorn 'group' delves.

I've solo'd normal Dragon Star Arena. Took about 1 1/2 hours, more due to the way that arena works than my play style. And only died twice, both times on the final boss...negate spamming adds are bad for a magic DK :p
Solo PvP and PvE most of the time.

I guess currently the biggest challenge for single player would be to solo an overland dragon. Though it's as much a test of skill as it is one of patience. And odds are that if you can stay alive long enough you'll have people join the fight eventually, so it won't be solo anymore.

I personally hate Maelstrom Arena. It's very boring and repetitive, with a healthy dose of bugs, lag and desyncs. You could try soloing group delves and anomalies in Craglorn, or just go for certain achievements: master angler, monster trophies, thieves guild, dark brotherhood...

Maelstrom Arena, some of the group areas in Craglorn can be pretty hard solo as well as solo world bosses.
