Why isn't there a crownstore catalog?

That way players can order older crown store items that aren't available anymore?
Why should new players or returning players be punished from really cool and desirable items just bc of bad timing?
It just seems like good business sense for this to be an option.

Because if they aren't always there, then people may have the urge to buy the stuff before it disappears. It's not consumer friendly, but it's all about making cash.

Most of the items does return in some form, but there's a 99 percent change that its gonna be in crown crates.

I totally get that and that's the point I'm trying to make. [snip] Because to be honest with you I always spend as much if not more crowns if I had a catalog I could buy all the stuff I've ever seen or missed on the crown store. I personally think that it's working in reverse for them. [snip]

Well FOMO is definitely a factor to boost sales.

Also I feel it is an incentive for players to keep checking in and play. It caters more to the loyal player than someone who left the game “but is not sweating it because it is always available”.

My only gripe is that the windows are a bit too small sometimes. I was just away on vacation a short while ago and I almost missed a limited time sale. Not because I “left” the game, just because I was not able to log in for 15 days.

If I'm not sure I want something limiting the time it's available means if I finally decide I want it, it's too late. ZOS probably thinks that will make me choose buy over pass when I'm wavering, but it doesn't. I've discovered that often I find I don't really want the thing after all, but there are a set of items I would buy if I could and that money they have lost.

FOMO is a successful marketing strategy, that's why.

Didn't see the original forum post is from 2020 but the in-game shop catalog is still a good idea.

Maybe once a year they could make everything available for a limited time. That would still allow FOMO impulse buying for the rest of the time. For example, maybe one week/year everything is available. That would still allow 51 weeks of impulse buying.

(I suggest this because I've been waiting to buy two specific houses for months and who knows then they'll be available again. It's crazy that I could potentially wait years.)

ETA: I've actually stopped buying crowns (over and above what I get with ESO+) because what I want to buy is never available. So for me, this FOMO strategy is causing me to spend less money on the game.

    [snip]

Marketing departments do research, using collected data, to determine the best way to do something that will result in the largest amount of cash in their pockets, when they need it (which is why limited-availability exists; to provide a cash spike at specific times). They have data; hard numbers. For their purposes, this information gives them better advice than any player ever could. They aren't in this purely to please us 100% (which is what that player advice is attempting to bring about); they are also here to make money. And at the end of the day, that is a larger concern for them.
    What we want is secondary.

      Greetings,

We have closed this topic as it was originally created in May 2020. In many cases, it's better to create a new thread on a topic that you want to discuss as opposed to bumping one that is rather old.
