I am maybe one of the elder players here with "natural white hair", and have both developed and tested more Multiplayer games than played for the sake of fun, but Elder Scrolls Online.
I got invited by a friend, who actually possessed two distinct accounts and tried to release one for me, without much success. At the time, I went in a shop and got a copy, instead. I installed it on a small laptop and surprisingly it worked pretty well, without tweaking the system.
A while later I got interest into Cyrodiil, and for this new environment I also had to move to a stronger PC. For the first time in my life, I bought a good graphics card, Bluetooth headphones and decent peripherals. Why? Because as a developer, you must use the crappiest hardware you can get, in order to make things work for everybody!
Much later, I started to play trials. And here the problems started and have not ceased until then. Unlike many players, I enjoy every detail and love to discover hidden features, and try new gear and tactics.
Most of the times, I get kicked from groups, because I fail to rush through, or I don't know the tricks yet. For quite a long time I played healer, but acted as a damage dealer, much to my disgrace ... I did not know, that people expect me to act as my self imposed role. And nobody told me. Instead I got kicked and insulted.
Then I transformed my character to a tank, which was much appreciated by a lot of people, but a few expected me to do things I could not fulfill. For example, they expected me to make more damage, and kicked me once again. And again.
By then, I decided to play solo. As a front bar tank and as a back bar healer, I could master a lot of dungeons alone. But then, I learned only the tricks. There is no fun playing always alone.
Then I transformed again, to a damage dealer, and now have enough power and experience to not getting one-hit-killed all the time in Imperial City or Cyrodiil. It took me a long time to sneak after the top players and learn from their skills, even if it meant to get killed a hundred times by them.
However, since then, I get kicked from dungeons and trials, because I still don't know the tricks and because I take my time to learn. And, of course, my additional skills are expected to heal and tank as well. Last time, today, I got kicked in one of the tougher dungeons, because I wasn't able to perform well in a 3 people set when actually it would need 4, including also the fact I was pretty green, although not completely.
About half a year ago, I tried ESO Plus, in the hope that I could finish some of the dungeons and trials almost nobody plays. Besides the difficulty to actually find players, sometimes automating my research with chat scripts, it took often hours to find enough people. With trials then, many left before or while playing, and not having an automated replacement, has become a major issue not to play at all.
I have learned so far, that having a banker makes ESO Plus unnecessary, and having more dungeons to play does not solve the problem of rushing, kicking and insulting players. An additional option in the finder can solve this problem:
Grind. If on, you can rush through, else you can't kick members or leave. But you may unplug your net cable as a sign of desperation
Now that Greymoore is coming with a new set of solo player skills, i am tempted, but I fear that once again, I will not find slow motion players for dungeons and trials, and thus buy a package I can't fully play.
Please, ESO, tell me about the "grind" option you have "right now implemented"
, in the new dungeon finder, where you also listed
all of the dungeons and trials of this game!
