PVP: 2H Maul or 2H Battleaxe?

What do you prefer and why?

Maul (20% Penetration)

It's not really much of a question when you consider the following

• Getting the bleed to proc is hard due to decent players not sitting still long enough to proc it reliably
• The bleed damage is small thus easily negated
• Bleed damage on the whole no longer bypasses resistance
• Most people in PvP are tanky AF
• The bleed can be easily purged
• The maul penetration can't be purged
• The maul penetration applies to every physical attack you launch
• The maul penetration is % based meaning it works good vs tanky builds and non tank builds alike

It just works.

And it works all the time, no conditions.

IMO, it's Maul>Sword>Axe.

Sword with lvl 4 Onslaught is superior for the duration of the armour negate, but a Maul is far more versatile thanks to the fact that a Maul user always has less armour to deal with over Sword/Axe users.

As there is no difference in attack speed unlike the single-player games, a Maul basically has no real drawbacks.

As highlighted above, an Axe has a lot of drawbacks in PvP. I would definitely use it in PvE though.

I like axe in non cp, it's bleed negate a hot most players use. But I want to try maul with my stamcro because he lacks major fracture.
Why is sword less viable?

The bleed is easily out healed or purge while penetration is always there and very good against tanks personally though I noticed it wasn’t there I prefer 2 h swords out of the 2 🙂

Who really cares? With how buggy and broken targetting with both dizzy swing and especially execute (without blockcancelling) is, nothing really matters in this game anymore

Depends on your targets armor. It takes it to be less than 19-20k or so armor for Sword damage boost to break even with mace 20% armor reduction. If you are penetrating down to that much, I might consider it but then I think people have done match that the DOT from axe still does more at that point.

Bleedings were totally destroyed last patch, no point in playing axes.

They should just remove the bleeding from axes, and replace it with a crit damage multiplier.

axes are cool and all, but unless you are going for a heavy dot build i would prefer maul or greatsword. Its bleed damage is so low compared to what you can get from mauls' penetration and greatswords' increased damage in my opinion.
I usually use greatsword+onslaught but %99 of the time have an axe style on outfits.
