Chained Lightning in vAA

I can confirm that if you have your pet out during the Chained Lightning that you will get one shot. I had Spirit Guardian out during the Lightning and died twice. I stopped using it and during the Chained Lightning phase, I was not getting one shot. I know there is a topic on the forum about this just can`t find it.

You can't find the topic because it would be a couple of years old. Pets do not trigger Chain Lightning anymore.

If the necromancer summons do somehow trigger it, you'll need some more information available to eliminate the most obvious cause of Chain Lightning. Screenshots that shows the position of the entire trial group or uploading a log (you can see position replays on the website) would be the most efficient way due to the fact that Chain Lightning starts with line of sight.

The Mage does her chain lightning on targets in a 180° radius in front of her, random target and only if there is more than 1 target close to each other. That's why the tank is never getting a hit, if he/she is not standing close to grp members and way back with the axes.

As long as the whole grp AND THE PETS are standing behind her, chain lightning will never be a problem. Even if your pets are immune or close to getting 0 incoming dmg in pve, it is no bug that they can be targets for enemies. Therefore, you have to be able to control them and care about positioning..

Shades (nightblade), and ghosts (necro) or even the netch from warden do also count as pets. So you will also be able to benefit from sets like necropotence if you are using them (test it out if you don't believe me). They can still be targets (in some situations and yes thats somehow buggy/not intended) but as they are completely immune to dmg, only side effects like chain lightning from the mage or other aoe stuff can be a problem.

If you are using pets, does not matter which kind of pets, you have to keep that in mind. It's not really a bug and as long as you understand whats and why it is happening, easily solved.
Some builds/skills are more useful in special fights, others are less useful. Pets during the mage is more difficult, but not bugged/undoable. It just requires more attention and the knowledge (look up keyboard controls) that you can control pets.

If it really works like that, That pets trigger chain lightning, it is bad design, because some classes have a huge disadvantage there.

Or you just use other skills/ultimates...
Because of mechanics it's not really bad design, for example first boss in maw of lorkhaj is very melee unfriendly, still not bad design. List can go on.
That sorc pets or the bear can procc it, good thing to be honest. But for stuff like necro ghost, skeletons or a nb shade (not sure if it's possible), it would be a bad design or even a bug/error/mistake. BUT EVEN THEN, knowing it and considering your positioning... still np and solved... therefore /shrug.

Ah, and yes, the mechanic really works like that ;)

It used to, but it doesnt anymore. Your pets dont cause chain lightening, your positioning does. (unless there is a new bug less than a week old, always possible with ZOS i suppose) Best thing to do is simply do this fight in two very small stacks. No reason to remove your pets, they arent the issue.
