Stamplar or Magplar

I’ve been playing as both Stam and Mag on my Templar in PvP for a while now, but I honestly can’t decide which I prefer. I’ve reached the point of being able to gold out a complete gear set but need to make a decision on which play style to stick with before I commit to it.

What do you guys prefer to play and why?

I mostly do bgs, and magplar is a little bit stronger there IMHO, but stamplar is what I prefer, I also play both as well.

Magplar for the average player , easier to play but a very boring class right now. With recent changes magplar doesn’t have an identity. Went from a combination of dots to being built like stamplars in terms of damage.

Before there was several ways to build a magplar regardless of where they stood against other specs and plenty of debates on what’s the best, not so much now.

If you have to poll the forum, go stamplar.

Magplar has way more build variety than Stam in my opinion. You have waaaaay more viable sets, skill setups, and playstyles. Much more forgiving to the people who don't want to be forced into some kind of meta. You can play for good burst combos, great support and healing, or consistent pressure damage to multiple targets. Truly more freedom than stam.

Stam, only cuz it's my main squeeze.

Magplar is good in different ways. Stamplar has less build variety but is more fun imo. Magplar has the ability to tank very well with heals and sword and shield. Its a better option for group play in terms of support. Stamplar i feel has more burst because of how high you can stack weapon damage. Stamplar has sustain issues but in terms of laying the hurt quickly its one of the best. I mained magplar before and its super frustrating using all your magicka and stam to stat alive and die anyways. At least on stam you can sprint out of trouble.

So I flip back and forth a lot but I think stamplar has a higher ceiling. Magplar has a much higher floor. If I am playing well; its sampler. If I am not doing so hot, magplar is easier. I tip toward stamplar because the thing I hate about Magplar is when you work with friends, you find yourself becoming the healer even if you didn't intend to be.

If you don't intend to heal teammates outside of an emergency class Ultimate, Stamina Templar is basically just a better version of Magicka Templar. That doesn't mean that the Magicka version is "bad" necessarily, but it doesn't have the same level of offensive power that Stam does, at least for no-CP/BGs. If you want to be a bit more split between offense and healing/support, Magicka Templar is quite good.

Sure Magplar has more flexibility, but I find myself enjoying Stamplar more.

I tried Stamplar. It's really good at tanking with Black Rose Prison's set, Spectral Cloak.

Magplar is great at tanking with Sword & Board and Pirate skeleton with high crit heals.

Stamplar is a one trick pony, I think. You run two swords/bow and you have poison and your combo. That's it.

Magplar, you can: play a healer, or you can use the meta 3 hit combo 1v1, or you can play AoE in a Ball Group, and you can run Destro Staff skills with a Pet Monster Set.

I change up my Magplar through those 4 all day in PVP.

Stamplar is more reliable with Major Protection though, as a trade off.

In the end you decide what to play, maybe play the one you have more success with?

Personally when I started the game my first character was a magplar because I searched was an easy class to start the game with.

After that played every single class in the game, and in the end I rerolled my main first character magplar into a stamplar and I love it.

Magplar is definitely more beginner friendly and easier to play both pve and pvp.

Stamplar is not that easy to master and be good at such as stamcros or stamdens, just imho.

If really struggle, just play a magicka templar with greatsword (which is bis and better than lighting>inferno) and you will have a feel of playing a stamina class while having good heals of magicka.

Well BRP dual wield will have higher damage next patch, so not sure about that yet.

For dueling and doing BGs I'd slightly favor magplar, for running around cyrodiil and bursting people down - stamplar.
