ANSWERED: Cannot jump while sprinting. Help?

Recently, I have noticed that I cannot jump while holding the sprint button. This is while on foot an while on mount.
My boyfriend can do both. So it must be something on my end.
Does anyone else have this same issue as well? Any advice, tips, etc. are gladly welcomed!

Non-mechanical keyboards have key combos that you cannot press at the same time.

You'll either have to change bindings to something else that works, or get a mechanical keyboard.

Check if all keys light up when you press the key combo for sprint jumping. My laptop accepts 4-key simultaneous inputs, more if holding special keys (shift, alt, etc.).

Out of curiosity: Are you and your BF on different computers while this is an issue, or are you using the same computer at different times?
I assume separate computers, else most of the fun of playing for you is missing.

That said, can he sprint and jump on your computer?

You mention a sprint button and your signature states that you play on PC - are you playing on a controller? If so, is it an officially supported controller, or are you using one of those drivers to make for instance a PS controller work on PC? The driver software might not support more than a certain number of inputs at the same time - movement (x,y), sprint and jump would make 4 inputs simultaneously. Also, as a way of troubleshooting, did you and your bf try swapping rigs and see if each of you can do it on the other one's? Jumping works terribly in ESO and I keep missing jumps and landing face first in knee-deep water - just deep enough to dismount me, ofc - even though I've played for 4+ years.

Replace your keyboard!

My guess is that the left side of the spacebar is broken. And you only press this side to jump, when you hold shift while running. While on any other occassion you simply press it in the middle, and it works.

My boyfriend and I have our own computers. We are also too far apart for swapping keyboards, etc.
I use a laptop that is under 2 years old. I have a monitor hooked up to my laptop. I also have a wired mouse and wired keyboard, brand new.
I do not use controllers.
I can press 3 buttons at the same time. I tested this by walking southwest and jumping at the same time (A key + S key, + Space bar) and this works.
I know my sprint key (left Shift) works because I can run.
I know my jump key (Spacebar) works on both left and right sides of it because I can jump while not sprinting.
Let me know if there is more information I can give. For now, I will check if I need to update my drivers. I just installed a windows update yesterday so I am unsure if this may have made things muck up? I use windows 10.

Press shift 5 times in a row quickly and turn sticky keys off. The shift+spacebar might be used by something.

There could also be something physically stuck below your shift key, which when you presss it, holds the spacebar up.

PS: Does sprint+jump work when you directly press it on the laptop itself, instead of on the added keyboard?

I checked for driver updates and I am all up to snuff with that.

YOU'RE BRILLIANT!
It works to jump while sprinting on the laptop keys directly.
I then tried again on the keyboard and it will not work.
SO! We know now that it is Definitely this keyboard.
Also, I turned sticky keys off long ago xD

ya okay so i checked under the spacebar, keys are clean.
i tested jumping with the left and the right side of space bar and still not working while sprinting.
only works when not holding the left shift down at the same time.
so maybe there is something that is telling the space bar it cannot be used at the same time as left shift?

Ya, I went to the key-test website daemonios suggested and sure enough, different 3-key combos will work but the spacebar won't work when pressing the left shift + W.
Oddly enough, the spacebar WILL work when pressing it with A, S, or D. But that doesn't help being I ride on my mount forward. I run forward. LOL oh well. I guess I will have to suck it up and invest in yet another keyboard

Can't you remap the shortcut from <spacebar> and save on a keyboard? Mine's remapped to <ctrl> since I tap <spacebar> for dodge (double key press dodge doesn't work well in 200ms+ ping I get).

So sprint jump for me is <w>+<left shift>+<ctrl> - uncomfortable for sure but dodge takes priority.

I would much rather get a keyboard that can do what I need it to do to play a game without having to remap/relearn muscle memory. I want to feel comfortable, and remapping the jump to another key in another area would just not work for me.
I think it'd be best if I just invest in another keyboard that will work properly for my activities. Thanks though

It has always worked for me on the mount, but never worked on foot... I'm pretty sure it's an ESO issue, not a keyboard issue when it comes to jumping when sprinting on foot.
