Confused about Expansion Purchases

Can someone with the base game only (bought at release) buy the latest expansion and unlock all the previous expansions, or can you only upgrade (and then have to pay a ton of extra money to unlock the older stuff)?

Hi @Trensharo, buying the latest chapter that includes the base game--such as the Greymoor Standard Edition--will add the included chapters on top of your current base game. You do not need to purchase each chapter individually.

Yeah, the previous chapters are included as preorder incentives... except, only if you buy the "new game" version. If you buy the upgrade, that does not include previous chapters. I'm looking at my alt account right now, and Morrowind is showing up as unpurchased. I've got access through ESO+, but it's not owned. Similarly, the new purchase CE should include the CE and preorder bonuses from previous years, though I haven't tested that, and can't be 100% certain.

Yea thanks. I think I'm gonna pass. The DLC just cost too much and there is too much content you're not getting if you don't stock up on them. It will severely limit cooperative play. I don't have $200+ to spend on this stuff, and I don't want more recurring subscriptions.

Sat here with the payment info on the screen for 45 minutes and just don't want to make a $60+ purchase I will regret.
