Closing "R.I.P. PC EU" was definietely a big mistake. Thread wasn't violated the tos, was mostly contructive and was one of the oldest, still active discussion on this forum. @ZOS_GinaBruno can we have an explanation? Did zos fix the performance of pc eu? Or explained to ppl why we have that poop you call performance for years now even when we paid a lot for this product? This company have one of the worst communication I ever seen in gaming industry and yet, with this bad PR, you still show us that you can go even lower.

Maybe a thread lock timer ?
There is no logical reason I can think of except of it being an old discussion & TL;DR.
Some videos I recorded for fun: Main character:
PC EU main: Universe - AD magicka Sorcerer, Former Emperor, Grand Overlord, The Merciless, Trial Bosses Solo Champion
Top alts: Genius(stamina/sagicka Dragonknight) The Force(stamina Nightblade) and other chars.
PC NA main: The Magic - AD magicka Sorcerer
Started playing ESO in beta & early access

Usually the Mod will leave a final post saying why they decided to lock a thread. Is it just gone? Did they outright delete/hide it?

Also, seen a few threads lock out cause they hit a soft cap. Often due to a few responses/comments they want to shuffle out without really distracting the whole thread with their [Z] logo and green text and everything back to normal the next day or so. Hard to say with forums though, since they are privately owned, they can do anything without letting anyone know why.

I think the only answer is this:

They are cowards, it was embarasing for them and that discussion clearly shows that the performance problem was and still is, bigger then thay want to admit. They prefer to lie in interviews by telling ppl that "servers handle the game well" - thats official words from @ZOS_MattFiror . They prefer to pretend that everything is great and community is possitive about game health. Typical ZOS/Bethesda PR nonsence. No matter how bad the situation is, don't admit that the corporation have a problem.

They just want casuals now, if they could remove pvp from this game they would. Remember this game came out in 2013 for beta which means the whole ESO concept idea was probably pitched way before 2010. That was a total different era back then when games where actually games and next to no microtransactions, only a few small dlc's. Now they just care about selling as many crown crates and cosmetics as possible. Releasing broken "chapters" which is basically DLC because nothing major ever changes in the game when these so call chapters come out.

Just create the new "R.I.P. PC EU 2.0" thread!

We already know that the underlying issues aren't going away so it will always be topical. Truly, an evergreen thread!

They don’t care. They already know they failed and couldn’t execute. Now all they can do is take down posts that represent ANY inkling of negativity. They don’t want new players to see it. Which in my opinion is manipulation.

And the tos are so vague they can take down Any post or ban anyone for any reason they want.

Now go ahead and take down this post like we all know you’re gonna do zos. Or better yet ban me from the forums again for speaking the truth.

And if they do not, and even if they do, you can contact a moderator and inquire as to why. They prefer that over a thread like this, which they tend to close.

A thread of 4 years was recently closed. One poster put a "petition" post ("coincidentally" about server performance). So rather than edit the post, or delete that single post, they closed a thread of 4 years and over 500 pages long.

It seems ZoS is clamping down on any discussion anything related to the service. This overhanded and heavy censorship that has been accelerating is a tale tell sign of the totalitarianism that is taking over Bethesda. They don't want criticism, they want a pretty picture to sell their product, even though behind that picture is an ugly truth.

I've had numerous of my posts edited/deleted for false reasons when it is in criticism of ZoS/Bethesda staff directly. They claimed the reason was "bashing" when I say a decision is bad. So it's clear censorship and nothing else.

    @Czekoludek Well said.

Do you all REALLY think that terms like "censorship" or "free speech" apply to a private forum?

ZOS isn't the government. They can remove anything they want from their "private forum" for any reason they want.

Your inflammatory remarks are worse for the community than most things I have seen the company do.

@ZOS -- it would really be great if you could please work on the performance issues in the game. I KNOW it's not my internet.

They need a clean forum for the new arrivals when Greymoor launches. They can’t have new money come in, notices a year long thread on a server that is the most populated, it’s not quite up to par with the brand they wishes to be?

Is my guess. Something has got to five and they can’t find a fix for their theories. What’s the next best thing than fixing? Just to pretend it never happened

Censorship is not government-exclusive. It may be a "hot" term for governments, but business censorship is all too common. Censorship is very prevalent in corporate and business PR. Because you correlate it with government practices doesn't mean it's inflammatory to talk about the business practice of censorship.

I doubt it as it will not stop the new threads that will pop up concerning performance and even some of those threads could be posted by those new Greymoor Players.

It never seizes to amaze me the amount of people that complain about EU server issues. How long have the servers been a problem, years?? If I could barely play a game due to server issues and it was a reoccurring problem for YEARS I would simply stop playing it. Easy as that. If they have no player-base in eu they might actually listen

Additionally the servers might work properly if people finally just leave the game. But no, keep playing and getting ignored time and time again

As the "RIP EU" thread was the one that ZOS and the MODS would direct us to, closing other threads because that one existed, this means that there is no recognised thread for feedback.

That's because despite the problems, they still love the game and want to support it. ZOS is wrong to ignore and silence these players because they are the ones that ultimately prop their profits up.

Players themselves contribute to the success of all MMOs whether they pay a monthly protection fee or not, and to continuously step on the players isn't just bad business; it's a tactic that will eventually leave you with no business.

It's not as if that thread was ever "recognized", though. It was basically just a place to send disgruntled players where they could be more easily ignored. Now the discontent will probably pop up in random posts all over the forum again. I doubt that is what they wanted.

    sheer embarrassment.

these threads reach such gigantic proportions (and not without good reason), so imagine the PR nightmare and damage potential to a business where multiple faults are regularly exposed on their own website by literally 10's of thousands of people.

Maybe ZOS never slapped on an "official PC-EU server issues thread" sticker on it, but community reps regularly pitched in to ask for feedback when new issues happened, and as has been pointed out, other threads were locked in the past with posters redirected to this one thread. That is about as official as it gets.

*rofl* With this forums that would mean we have about 10 threads left. And still there they are - pages and pages of rants, accusations, doomsday sayings, tantrums, and - lo and behold - even actual criticism.

ZOS will find any reason, no matter how stupid or unrelated it may be, to close a thread that mentions their complete and utter failings to address performance problems. We've seen the same song and dance dozens of times.
