Kind of new to the housing world but one frustration I have is the lack of decent doors and windows for housing projects. I keep having to use dressers or shutters for make shift doors and tables for window.

My biggest peeve too. No idea why there are not windows we can open or just open all the time. I hate a house that has no windows or windows that cannot be opened. Too gloomy inside.

I totally agree. Proper structural items has been a slow drip feed over years. You wouldn't believe how tough it was when all we had was a few rough blocks and crappy planks!
Anyway, if this helps, here is a solution that many of us use. Take two wooden framed paintings and place them back to back to make your own door. You can set it to a semi-open position.

I am happy to share the EHT save files for most of my builds.

Yeah, as I have said before (too many times!), there should be walls, or even whole modular rooms which can be connected together, with various variations of doors and windows already in them.

Another option for a makeshift door is theElsweyr Sarcophagus Lid, Ancient, depending on what style of house you're going for.

I've also seen people use Rough Planks, Narrow (availlable really cheaply from home goods furnishers), set upright and sunk most of the way into the floor, for structures like simple fishing shacks, etc.

A website I often use to check what is availlable where from home goods and achievement vendors is Lovelynorth.

But, you're right, it would be nice to have doors and windowframes/panes purely as structural pieces without having them be animated.

Seems like you could just have solid walls and then place windows wherever you like. It’s not like you can see through them anyway. That would make for fewer components and not so many variations.

Then I could place windows on the inside of Thieves Oasis where the outside ones are shown, but are missing.

I've found a few dressers that if place backwards and pushed in some can appear as doors also...
