Help me understand this Alcast build

Why you guys bash him all the time? He puts a ton of work into his site. The resources provided are a great starting point for builds and for the most part BIS. Granted his pvp builds are lacking but, there are others out there with focus on pvp. His guild has achieved what most of us only can wish to. That is fact.

Alcast is not the be all end all of builds, but his builds are a great start for new players or even skilled players who want a basis to start off from. He puts a lot of thought and testing and time into his builds, and his guides on tanking and healing and the like are a great resource for beginners. I will gladly recommend him to anyone seeking such information, but it is also really important to understand all your abilities and what they do if you want to be a strong player, so you can make situational or personal changes that work for you.

I think what most people who get so unnecessarily angry and outspoken against people like Alcast are actually upset about are the players who slap on these builds as if they are written in stone, never change a thing, never really understand them, and then jump into vet content or PVP and fail miserably because they wrongly thought Alcast build = win.

And that is the major issue in most MMOs. You get those people known for their theorycrafting and builds, and the result is a lot of people running around with these cookie cutter builds without any knowledge on how to actually play their class but only know to hit skill A, then B, then C twice, etc, but don't even really know what they do, and can't adjust to situations on the fly. But that's not Alcast's fault.

Definitely neither xynode or hacktheminotaur lol. They release these overland and solo builds which are absoloutely irrelevant in any competetive activity and test their *** on the 3m/6m dummy with lover mundus and extra penetration. If you're looking to be comptetive alcast is a very good source, aswell as liko and skinny cheeks gaming, theasiangod. If anything you will probably have to be extra skilled to make nord bow magblade work in competetive pve, not the other way around. And simple 1 bar build even if doing decent dps probably wont take you thru any of the harder content either, being able to execute a "difficult" rotation and following dungeon mechanics has some correlation i believe, you have to be aware.

Tbh dungeons and trials are so different (especially since pug healers can leave you hanging) but ye... Dungeon+solo builds can be very different than trial ones.

yes there's always more flex in 4 mans. I.E. you can run slimecraw if doing 3 dd run or one mag dps slots elemental drain and stuff like that. but nothing too outlandish, still staying within the meta more or less.

Dungeon fights are much shorter, and many times more aoe oriented, with many adds, relequen is ***, pfg is stronger because many adds, expensive potions are used less (in combination with shorter fights it lets mechanical acuity shine).

Dungeons are also much more forgiving dps wise, which lets you run whatever you want really.

Flexibility in dungeons is indeed much higher. Especially for healer and tank roles.
