Randomly getting booted to login screen

I'm writing this for a friend I'm playing with.

He randomly gets booted to the login screen. There's no error message or anything. Just instantaneously gets kicked to the login screen. It happens randomly at any point, sometimes during combat, sometimes not. When he disconnects, his character will remain in the game for maybe 30-60 seconds before getting removed from the world and being put as offline. During this time he cannot log back on because the game still thinks he's logged in. He gets booted roughly every 2-3 hours. His internet connection doesn't drop because we're on Discord constantly.

I haven't experienced this problem even once (however, I do have an odd thing where I can see a load screen flash for 0.2 sec every couple hours or so).

He doesn't have any problems with any other game. This is the only game having issues and he plays games online for 10+ hours every single day.

I've been googling the issue (search: elder scrolls online booted to login screen) and it appears many people have been experiencing this exact thing for over 5 years. Still, I haven't been able to find a single thread with a solution. It looks to me like there's a flaw somewhere with the game that ZOS have never identified.

People have reinstalled the game, repaired the installation, replaced their routers, cables, disabled anti-virus, removed addons, updated drivers etc. and they're still having issues.

Does anybody know of a possible solution? Or are some people simply doomed not to play this game because ZOS has a connection issue they can't solve?

Sorry to hear that your friend is having these issues. I have seen several threads in the last few days that reference a spontaneous disconnect issue. So far, I don't really haven't found a solution.

If your friend has full-access to their network, and knows how to set their device up as a static IP and forward some ports, I would link them this page to see if it help: https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1133/~/what-ports-do-i-need-to-open-for-the-elder-scrolls-online?

As for your loading screen issue, were you by chance playing in Craglorn? There have been a handful of reports about people having split-second loading screens while playing there. It seems that the causal reason might be related to server capacity.
I play on PC NA! Currently looking for a casual dungeon and trial group/guild. If you want to talk, feel free to message me here or in-game to Pizza (Yes, I'm the original Pizza)
Follow me on Twitter for video games and cats. I also casually stream on Twitch!

It's been happening to me too, even in Trials. I get sent to the main menu every 20 minutes which has resulted in me losing out on the loot from a Trial, as I disconnected once the boss was at 10% health.

He has already opened those ports. We tried that already. It didn't change anything.

Setting static IP? I thank you for the advice but that sounds ridiculous if that would be required. He doesn't get new IPs though because we play other games and his IP is constant.

I have this issue in other zones as well, but yes, one of them was Craglorn.
