New Moon Priest SHOULD NOT be guaranteed because...

New Moon Priest is currently the ONLY motif in the game that is 100% guaranteed by just opening a chest. It's a simple 5 seconds daily task.

It has been realeased only a week ago, and chests are already being sold for 50k. Chests! In another week they will be 25k, then 10k, then 5k, then 1k, then 500 gold, because the market will have 1.000.000 pages or more.

And at some point, shortly, we will just have to destroy the pages as we loot them from the chest because there will be already way too many pages in traders and no space (no need in fact) in our inventories for them.

This happened already with Glass motif, until the fragments stopped being guaranteed because there were way too many pages already.

So, why doing this again? Why giving it guaranteed? What's the goal? Overfill the server with millions of useless 500 gold pages?

Why listing for 5k crowns in the Crown Store a motif that will be given for free in zone chat shortly?

Its a guaranteed drop? Is there something Im missing then? I was under the assumption that to get the motifs you had to do the daily quests from Chizbarri and Dirge, but Ive yet to get any New Moon Priest motifs from their reward boxes

I don't care either, @Dragonnord.

Eventually, all of my 18 characters will have New Moon Priest learned.

If the motif sales game is your cup of tea, then might I suggest you start running vet DLC hard modes for motif page drops there?

I run Depths of Malatar all the time for Meridian pages ... each time one drops it's a payday in the tens of thousands.

Aren't Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild motifs a 100% droprate if you complete the respective dailies perfectly? So this isn't that much of a first

It's unfortunate that New Moon motif prices will drop so fast, but they are still gated behind a 30-daily-quests achievement. I'm happy to not have to grind dailies every day for a motif, but something SLIGHTLY more involved would be cool - like having to at least kill a dragon or New Moon priests once a day for the guaranteed motif once you have the achievement (short quest)

Once a day per account so 14 days, if you are lucky enough to get no dupes and don't screw up your timing, since the motif and chest are on different timers.

So I would not expect to see the price plummet much for a couple of weeks, more likely a month.

The 30 daily quest requirement also bars a good chunk of the playerbase who either don't know or are unwilling to do the dailies.

Then you have alts you can give them too, so I would expect it to tank, but it is going to be longer than the OP suggests, though eventually the lack of demand will depress it to a few hundred gold a piece, I predict that is 3-6 months away.

The dailies you need to do are in Tideholm, the dragon quest up top and Dirge the bartender. You need to be a ways into the zone questline to unlock those.

Yes I have completed the quest, and did the 30 daily quest achievement, Im just wondering if Im missing anymore steps, as I have been participating in the dailies for a few days now and have not receieved any motif

They just started dropping from the supply box on April 22nd. but it's the 30 tideholm dailies for Dragonguard Operative

2. High drop rate is not the same as 100% drop rate.

One day I did not receive a page, but instead received 5 style materials for the New Moon Priest.

EDIT: It turns out the New Moon Priest page is guaranteed, but that there is a hidden 20 hour cooldown per motif drop! For example, if you open the chest one hour before the day “resets”, and you get a motif, you won’t be able to get another motif until 20 hours pass even though the chest will be lootable again in an hour.

It is NOT guaranteed, i manage to lot none two times, when i looted the chest in the morning after looting it in the evening the day before, so maybe additional 20h cooldown?

They don't drop from the Daily reward boxes

There's a wooden chest on the floor infront of Dirge's counter that has a slight glow on it. That's the reward for completing all 30 dailies

It doesn't drop from the reward boxes. Ther's a boring little wooden chest that unobstrusively appears in front if Dirge Thruptor's counter near the wayshrine. It has an infetismal blue glow around it. Once you have achieved the requisite 30 dailies (and I believe finished the dragonguard questline?) You can loot it once a day by just walking up yo it and opening it.

Oh and it's not 30 dailies. I think it's 30 dragonguard quests so, 6 quests to complete the story line and another 24 dailies.

a) bought the motif for 5k crowns

This is correct. Don't loot the chest in less than 20 hours. I did the same. Evening loot and next day morning. Now I loot it the same time each day to get the motif daily.

I already got the entire set. I got chest, hands and head on my own and bought the rest all for less than 50k

Even though ZOS wanted the zone to be one that players keep revisiting (and the lengthy unlock quest sequence was part of that), I think the guaranteed drop might have been influenced by the Murkmire event complaints?

As long as you can open the chest you get an opportunity each day. It’s not guaranteed though.

Finally, a Motif that's not a preposterous grind.

And, of course, someone's got a problem with that.

By the way, Outlaw and Assassin's League Motif pages are guaranteed drops for killing the appropriate mobs. Thieves Guild pages are guaranteed drops for completing the appropriate quests. None of these are terribly expensive pages, but nor are they so common that we're practically giving them away.

It's amazing that no matter what Zos does, someone will complain. I think it's nice we get one motif that doesn't require a brutal grind, and that all players will be able to get eventually. I couldn't disagree more with the majority of OPs main points. The only thing I'll agree with is that 5k in the crown store for this motif is stupid indeed.
