DLC Question

I just started playing again after a 3 1/2 year break. :( I started my monthly sub today and noticed that Elsweyr is still showing on my character page stating a purchase is needed. When I played before if you were a member DLC you could access all DLC so I am a bit confused. Is there somewhere else I need to activate Elsweyr? I am so far behind on DLC. I left after the Dark Brotherhood so that should tell you how many maps and quests I am behind... :( Still trying to figure out how to access all the new content I do have access to. :)

Thanks!!

Elsweyr will be free for all ESO+ subscribers when Greymoor chapter will release (18 may )

The current chapter and everything it includes, which, as of now, is still Elsweyr, is always the only thing you don't automatically have access to with a subscription. But, as Wojownik303 said, Greymoor will be available soon, which should then lead to Elsweyr being included in ESO+. So, no worries, just occupy yourself with all the other stuff you haven't done yet, and then you'll have Elsweyr in no time, as well. :)

Just be aware that when Elsweyr does become a "dlc" you will not get the Necrancer class. It will end up needing to be bought separately.

Correct, but after the official release, @Wojownik303, not the pre-order release.

Which has been delayed a week due to the virus pandemic.

So, the estimate is June 9th for regular release of Greymoor (PC-Mac).

Looking at my crown store and I am a ESO Plus member, there are several DLC's showing that I need to purchase with crowns. The Dark Brotherhood shows owned but DLC Like Wolfhunter, Clockwork City, Sommerset and Shadows of The Hist show that I need to purchase them.

Based on what I am seeing I cannot access any DLC that happened after Dark Brotherhood unless I spend crowns? So confused...

I may be wrong, depending on your actual situation, but based on what you described. When you sub, you don't OWN dlc's, but you have access to them. This is so that if you ever stop subbing, you lose access to them. But you can still BUY them (and therefore own them) when you're subbing - this means you'll retain access to them when/if your sub runs out.

That *could* be the problem above - I can't be sure though

This is an example of what I am seeing when I look at the DLC in the crown store.

Where it says purchased it is the actual content that you’ve bought. I have a few greyed out marked as purchased in mine as well but I have access to all other DLC because of my sub.

yup, that's what it should look like. The question is, can you go into a murkmire or scalebreaker dungeon? If your sub is current, then you should be able to get into the murkmire dungeon (and quest in the region as well), as I don't think it counts as an expansion.

I can't remember if scalebreaker was a dlc or classified as an expansion or whatever they're calling the ones that you don't get with sub.

Also note, that to some extent, ESO has reclassified DLC, and made a distinction between dlc and expansions. DLC you still get access to for free while subbed - expansions (like Morrowind, I think) are supposed to be something you HAVE to buy...although it's possible that has changed now as well, judging by the earlier posts in this thread.

I see on the main website under DLC it shows Morrowind and Summerset as DLC but it does not say free with sub. I would have to purchase those to play I guess.

Thanks for the help! Was totally confused as things have changed a lot since the last time I played. :)

I only just started but as a new player that preordered Greymoor it came with all the other expansions. Elsweyr, Summerset and Morrowind. My sub covers the rest like thieves guild, dark brotherhood, clockwork city and all the other DLC dungeons.

So to get most of what I have missed I probably need to pre order Greymoor? I see I can get Elsweyr but it only comes with two zones. Didn't realize they have moved to having you download packages.

If you're subscribing you do not need to buy DLC. You have access to everything except Elseweyr as long as your subscription is active. You'll get Elseweyr next month when Greymoor is released. (And will most likely get Greymoor next year when the next chapter is released.)

Ignore the crown store. That shows the DLCs as being available to purchase because technically you do have that option too, but there is absolutely no need to buy them unless you want to stop subscribing and still have access to those areas. It's offered because that is something some people do - for example getting a 30 day subscription to try out DLC then using the crowns to buy the ones they like.

But as long as you keep the subscription active you have access to everything except the most recent chapter.

Thanks! Sorry I am so confused. It didn't use to be this way and I wanted to make sure I had access. I do have an active subscription so I should be good. Thanks!

On the top right hand corner, change all to purchased to see which ones you have, and non purchased to see the ones you don't own. You should be able to use all of them with plus regardless.

Did you buy the gold edition like I did? That would give you the first four dlc's: orsinium, thieves guild, dark brotherhood and imperial city.

Also, selecting journals, then stories will show all if the chapters. You should have an option for start quest for each one if you have plus.

Yes I purchased the gold edition.

I don't have any new quests. I have one vet finishing up Daggerfall and one vet in AD. No quests other than the few I had left when I stopped playing. I do see lots of NPCs around with arrows that I am "suppose" to talk to that were not around when I left so maybe they have the starter quests.

The only purchased DLC showing is what I had with the gold edition. Everything since then is showing a crown price.

This is a lot of my confusion. How to get to any of these new places as in where do the quests start? What NPC do I look for? Hopefully I can find this online somewhere. :(

The ingame help should point you to the starter quest of a DLC as well.

Sorry I misled you. Select u for collections, then stories. You can start the quests there.
