So, it's been over a year since the Bosmer stealth nerf....

....and where are the new options/systems for stealth gameplay that were referred to here?

It's also interesting to note that they said Bosmer would be able to keep their "nice combat buff will still having avenues to be as stealthy as before." Considering that Bosmer (along with Khajiit) were previously the stealthiest of races with their racial passives, when the promised new option/systems are eventually implemented will they actually be best at stealth again, as before?

It's been demonstrated time and again that the passive stealth detection portion of Hunter's Eye is at best bugged, and more likely not functional at all or even a detriment to those using it. Will Bosmer ever be returned to their true fame as masters of stealth? The in-game quest dialogue regarding Bosmer stealth and Argonian poison resistance has never been rewritten so that they make sense and reflect the changes to their passives last February, so that gives me hope that things may at some day be restored to the true TES lore.

Taking stealth away from the Bosmer is like taking magic away from the Altmer, making Nords allergic to mead, or making Orcs pretty.

It's also worth noting that originally Bosmer had a stealth related passive that was universally useful in both PvE and PvP. What they got instead with the racial makeover was something that has absolutely no use in PvE, which is where most Bosmer characters play. And the efficacy of passive stealth detection is debatable for those who PvP, as it alerts hidden enemies to the presence of a Bosmer with Hunter's Eye long before any other player of a different race approaches, even if the Bosmer doesn't actually see the hidden enemy. This is because the Bosmer (theoretically) should be detecting the hidden player at a greater range, therefore causing the hidden player's detection "eye" to partially open sooner and alert him to the presence of approaching danger sooner.

I actually disagree with what you said about the detection passive. You are making it sound like something that can be rectified by fixing the bugs, but that's not the case. Even when the passive works, it is still not useful and still a detriment. This needs to be stressed. PASSIVE DETECTION IS BAD EVEN WHEN IT WORKS PROPERLY!
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

I think the vast majority of players would agree with you, seeing how the armor set that provides passive stealth detection and roll dodge buffs that Hunter's Eye was modeled on (Way Of Air) is generally regarded as decon fodder, and the few pieces that actually make it to guild traders go unsold, even priced extremely low.

So, even when given a choice, players tend to avoid passive stealth detection. And Bosmer isn't given a choice.

    Khajiit*.

Stealth detection shouldn't work against cloak in any case, since that's a different mechanic.

*Of course, since Khajiit and Bosmer are in THE SAME FREAKIN ALLIANCE, they don't need the detection bonus, since they can always see their hidden allies. Just another aspect of the extreme silliness of this whole mess.

The combat team has pretty much left me dead inside in my regards for eso. How badly they have mangled the races, the classes, tanks...

Right now I am just treading water really. While eso dominated my game time, now it’s just receding. The way they designed bosmers seems just symbolic of how badly they treat the rest of the combat system.

Agreed. My motivation to play ESO was at an all time low after that all the way until Q4. I am only now really getting back into it but I haven't touched my Bosmer ever since. It's just not the same character anymore :/

The stealth detection is useless, it doesn't even seem to work. Bosmer should deffo get their stealth back.

Magic 8 Ball says: "You may rely on it."

I'm starting to think that the Magic 8 Ball is just providing canned, mechanistic responses with no particular oracular value. Maybe I shouldn't depend on it.

I overheard an Argonian in Solitude talking about giving a dryskin something he was eating, even though he knew it would be poison to him. So it appears the combat team still hasn't informed the story team that Argonians are no longer immune to poison and Bosmer are no longer stealthy. Even after 16 months.

What makes this funnier is that they claim they changed the blood scion model because of lore, yet they still can't do something as simple as give Argonians and Bosmer back their lore friendly passives. There is no excuse now.
