Paintings in Greymoor

From the PTS patch notes:
"Moderately reduced the chance of acquiring paintings from treasure chests. However, when acquiring a painting from a treasure chest in an area that has its own paintings, you now always get a painting specific to that area.
-This makes it much easier to acquire region-specific paintings, even with the overall reduction in the drop rate of paintings."

Is this going to make it easier or harder to acquire paintings with already low drop rates eg Morrowind specific ones?

Well, they are saying it will.

What they are implying is that it will lower your chance of getting a painting, of any kind at all.

By how much, I have no idea?

"Moderately" has quite a lot of potential scope, either way, doesn't it?

So, that will be bad news for people trying to get base game paintings, but probably good (or better) news for people trying to get area-specific ones, like the Morrowind ones.

As, as long as you are looking in the right area, if you do happen to get a painting, it will at least be area specific.

Assuming the area you are looking in has area specific paintings, obviously.

Otherwise, I you will have a (now lowered) chance of getting one of the base game ones.

Also good for the Summerset specific paintings, and the recently added to test Elsweyr paintings. Not sure if this would include the Murkmire tapestries as well.

Yeah, I've found some paintings searching for Buoyant Armiger motifs, so it will probably be better if those are removed from the list of possible loot from advanced or master level chests. I still feel it's a very vaguely worded part of the patch notes. Then again a lot of the numerical stuff is hidden so they are being consistent.

I have gotten a fair number of worn Murkmire carpets and tapestries, far more than actual furnishing plans to be sure. I’d rather that drop rate go up instead.

Nothing from Vvardenfell yet, but I was clearing some treasure maps out and spotted a nearby locked chest in Southern Elsweyr. Obtained an Elsweyr Dome Architecture painting when I opened it. So I'm more hopeful than I was when I first saw that patch note.
