Intuitively, it feels like the aim of having 2 morphs for each skill is to encourage differentiation in play-style and builds. However, if examined and thought about closely, it doesn't quite fit the premise.
The limitation of 5+1 skill-slots is the actual user-constraint that leads to differentiation in combinations and builds; the size of the selection pool regarding those skills, do not. At best, the forced selection of one morph over another provides a convenience barrier (since you must go to an alter to change); at worst, it's just an unimaginative gold-sink.
Let's consider:
- ZoS wishes to encourage engagement-specific play adaptation; meaning, have players consider the situation and prepare load-outs accordingly.
- ZoS wishes to encouraged counter-play: reacting and adapting play-styles based on difficulties met.
- You can't change skills during combat.
This raises the question, why not allow players to have both morphs unlocked but constrain the usage to be mutually exclusive? (I.e.: you can't use both morphs at the same time).
