• New Vampiric paintings can rarely be found in treasure chests in the caverns beneath Western Skyrim, while new Western Skyrim themed paintings can be found in treasure chests in Western Skyrim.
• Elsweyr-themed paintings can now be found in treasure chests in Northern and Southern Elsweyr.
• [Jury is still out on this one] Moderately reduced the chance of acquiring paintings from treasure chests. However, when acquiring a painting from a treasure chest in an area that has its own paintings, you now always get a painting specific to that area.This makes it much easier to acquire region-specific paintings, even with the overall reduction in the drop rate of paintings.

Here are the ones I was able to purchase from the PTS Crown Store - not sure whether these are the same as the ones that will drop from Chests, or whether these will be Chest-exclusive and were only added to the store to test them, or whether there are some Chest-exclusive ones out there that we can't preview on the PTS without farming them. So all of this unconfirmed, subject to change, PTS disclaimer, etc. etc. etc.

But luckily we can look at some truly awesome pictures!

Those new painting will sell for a good bit for a while, and all painting selling prices should rise a bit.

As Patch notes state:

Are "treasure chests" those you can lockpick or those found by treasure maps? Or do the paintings drop from both?

Still don't get it... treasure map chests, or just locked chests, or safeboxes? I heard about safeboxes as well, but I would like someone to confirm, please.

Does anyone know what are chances to get new paintings from treasure chests? Master-difficulty only? Any difficulty, but higher chances at higher ones? Completly random?
I did few laps around vvardenfell, Elsweyr, summerset and picking skyrim ones here and there and got exactly one painting from master chest. Not sure if unlucky, or reducing droprate was more than "moderate".

I never got that many paintings before this change, but the ones I did get weren't tied to difficulty level on the chest.

THEORETICALLY this would mean that any difficulty chest MIGHT drop a painting. Remember though, that the drop rate was decreased, which - for me - means no paintings found yet (even though I'm finding way more chests than before).
