Normal will now drop the current version of the weapons.
Vet will drop the "perfected" version.
The "perfected" version will just be the old vMA weapons that had a +189 damage stat on them (that ZOS took away from us 2 years ago so they could re-add it now as a new grind).
If you ran vet before, you won't get the new perfected version, despite the content being the same, and in some cases, having even possessed the perfected weapons before they took the damage stat away.

While I don't agree with the decision to not upgrade our current weapons when they've been shown they are 100% capable of doing so, you paint the situation in a different way than what actually happened.
Arena weapons didn't have a 2 piece set bonus, they just used unique enchantments to provide their current 2 piece set bonuses. There was no space for regular enchantments. The trade of a static bonus like +189 damage to an infused berserker enchantment for +450 damage was well worth it. Especially when you only used most of these weapons on your back bar in the first place.
Also, perfected will not have the old +189 damage, if anything, it will be at the new standard for +129. +833 crit, etc.
A better question is: Will perfected simply add the old static bonuses or will they come up with stronger set effects like Asylum weapons.
I feel really dumb here - I've been playing ESO for over 3 years and I have no idea what a perfected weapon is.
Can someone please tell me?
Thanks.

Thanks everyone for the information.
I seriously had no idea.
I've played for about three and half years, but I've never done a trial.
I've gone through Maelstrom but only on normal - no way I'd put myself through vet considering how frustrating I've heard it can be.
I get why people are disappointed about this.

I'm sure other people will reply with "Oh, but vMA is so easy nowadays.", just because it's easier doesn't make it less of a slog to get through.
And I say this as a former fan of MA's design

vMA is easy.
vMA was fun the first few attempts.
But just because something is easy and was fun years ago before I did it 100 times doesn't mean I want to do it another 100 times.

Starting with Asylum Santorium Zos started creating two tiers of arena/trial gear. The perfected gear comes from running the vet and vet HM difficulties. The perfected are basically stronger than the non-perfect but varies how that happens.

It closes the gap between newer and older players. At least until older players regrind.
In the interim, it incentivises running normal. There was no reason to before. This will get more ppl trained to run it and more ppl will attempt veteran.
It's a good way to reduce the steep skill wall. Honestly, a dark souls twitch type experience probably doesnt have much bearing on trial performance.
The problem with vma is that it requires a completely different bar setup to be learned. And it much much easier on some classes. At least ppl can farm the normal version on any class now.
